White around tritum Indices...

Hey guys.

I was looking at a watch and noticed that there was white around the tritium indices.

See the 3 & 9

Can someone educate me on this a bit? Why it it happening? how will it age (or progress), is it desirable/undesirable?

It's just where the lume was printed/applied on top of the white printed plots.
Lume has gained patina; edge of white hasn't.
It won't really 'age' any more than that, I doubt.
I find it very desirable - not sure about you or anyone else!

Or could it b that the edge of the lume flaked off showing the plot beneath? As long as it doesnt detract from overall appearance i wouldnt mind. That said i would pay premium for perfect no issue example.

Thanks for the advice. I changed the picture because I was looking at several which had the same traits. The one originally posted sold in minutes. Eek...

The white plots are on the dial.

Rolex painted / applied the tritium mixture on top of the white plots.

As the tritium deteriorates over time, it flakes off the dial.. revealing the original white plots on the dial.

You're welcome - yes, the good ones, from respected sellers, don't hang around long!

Best of luck and enjoy the hunt.
