Rolex faux patina
It's only a matter of time right? I would guess in the next three years we'll see them.

People already cook their dials to give them false patina and have been doing it for years.. They also bleach and fade bezel inserts..

Never understood how to cook a dial. Only cook food. Wouldn't it burn?

It does when there are many with more money than sense to buy these types of watches.

Hate it!
Rolex don't do it! That is one thing I absolutely hate about Panerai!
They should never have started the "fake" patina! |

Fake patina. Just as bad as fake "relic" Fenders.

It wouldn't bother me, but it's not really a Rolex thing. The orange hand of the Exp II is about as 'retro' as they go (so far).

I'd buy one if it was all scratched up as well.

Leica did that for the Lenny Kravitz edition. I don't get it.

Meh, who cares. A watch is a watch, we worry about nothing sometimes.

Tudor and Omega have gone this route and successfully, with the popularity of the "vintage look" it's only a matter of time until we see a no crown guard sub with cream patina and a red triangle.
Probably in platinum, ugh. |

I suspect Tudor was a struggling brand and needed a smart new look especially if they were going to get back into the US market. Rolex is not struggling brand but one day might play this card but seems unlikely and unnecessary at the moment. They have constantly updated old lines for 60 years now so they have a 'heritage' collection already, just no faux work but some awful interpretations and editions nevertheless.

I thought the humidity and the absence of any light cause the patina. Not the sun

Somebody tell John Mayer. I hear he is looking for genuine faux patinated Rolexes. Or so says his attorney.
