Anyone familiar ETA Valjoux 7750 movement?

I have long been a fan of the Levenger company, started in 1987 with motto "Tools for serious readers"... nice pens, writing materials, leather goods, and various other quality, thoughtful items for enjoying sitting at home.

Now in their latest catalog, they introduce some quite nice-looking watches, particularly a chronograph with the above-mentioned movement- so I flip it open and find a price of $1,999!! I was expecting a few hundred dollars, and this just really put me off- seems like quite a lot for a watch that has "Levenger" on the face, and the first one they come out with...

Am I off base here? Is this a reasonable price for this automatic movement in a chrono in this circumstance? I just paid $500 for a Hamilton Swiss automatic with no qualms, but just can't quite see this going for something with NO reputation selling for what you can get a Tag for...

They have other watches with a Swiss Ronda 550 quartz movement for about $300 that seems reasonable, nice looking classic watches.

Many companies use(d) a 7750. Rock solid movement. Watch companies make or break the value of a watch. Do you think it costs 12k to make a Daytona? No, but it will sell for close to that. This brand....never heard of.

As stated. Rock solid movement that has been used for years. Rotor is a tad noisy but that is part of the charm of a 7750.

I agree with your summary, $2000 is a tad bold for a name that hardly anyone has heard of.
