VC Overseas in Comparison to the Daytona

Pretty much says it all.

I am loving my Daytona more each day. However, I am slammed busy with work and it always helps when I have a little watch distraction.

I am realizing, now more than ever, that sometimes I buy simply as a bit of therapy to keep me occupied and distracted from the sometimes all consuming days and nights of work.

BUT, the Daytona has ruined me to other watches. Besides the new slew coming out, the only thing that really interests me is the VC Overseas with blue dial.

I am afraid, however, that it will wear too big after wearing the Daytona. And considering how much I enjoy the size and feel of the Daytona, I will have zero interest in the VC once I get it.

YES, I realize that I should find one local and try it on. That is not going to happen. I will be lucky if I get lunch today, and the nights are booked with client dinners.

So I ask you guys here. Any thoughts on a comparison between the two?

Any thoughts at all would be appreciated.

Is this in addition to the Daytona or a flip?

This will be an addition.

With my history, I can never say never, but I highly doubt I will ever flip this Daytona.

I liked mY VC Overseas, though I only had an auto and not the Chrono, I would buy a Chrono over the Daytona any day. The date function, the slightly larger case, the nice bracelet, the heritage of owning a VC to name a few reasons.

Sorry, I should be clearer.

Keeping the Daytona. This is an adder. Maybe. If I never wear it because I love the Daytona as much as I do, then there is no point.

But if it wear similar and is a different look, color, brand, etc... then I think it will be a winner.

I sure do love the styling.

I love the VC chrono, specially the blue dial. It is beautiful. I would pick that up over a Daytona in a flash personally. The only reservation is size (it wears bigger than the daytona) and the fact that you will have two chronos.

It's the size I am worried about. I don't mind having two Chrono's.

But I think you just answered my question.

I like the size of the Daytona. Not sure I want to jump up too much. 39ish to 42mm might be too much for me.

I have both the Daytona 16520 and VC 49140 and love them both. If push came to shove and I had to keep only one, I'd keep the VC because of the date, greater WR, and antimagnetic case. The newer VCOs have the extra advantage of OEM rubber and leather strap interchangeability (although Everest and RubberB make nice bands). The real only downside to the VC to me is depreciation but I buy pre-owned so it isn't as much of a problem.

If you had a nickel for every time you mentioned a watch being a keeper, you could go buy the VC!

I haven't tried one on, but there are things I like and don't like about the watch.

Like:
- Bracelet
- Textured dial
- Colors available for dial
- Date placement (my favorite date placement of ANY chrono)

Dislike:
- Different sized subdials
- No display case back (I think a watch like that from one of the "big 3" should have a see through case back)

VCO is a handsome watch and the maltese cross motif is intriguing, I'd go for it.

I came within a hair of getting the exact watch you are looking at. Wears a hair smaller than you would expect. In hindsight, should have grabbed it. Love the watch.

have you looked at the IWC chronos? they have some great discontinued and recent models at a better price point. I just picked up the 371508 and I'm in love with the watch and the bracelet is stunning.

My guess is that if you love the size and relative robustness/wearability of the Daytona, you'll be flipping the VC in the long run. Nothing wrong with the VC, of course - anyone would be lucky to have one.

Thanks for all the input guys. And those pics are amazing. At the eod though, I think it's just too big for my taste. Beautiful, and that blue is super, but just too big.

I think 40 or 41 max.

Right now I'm going to go with something I never should have flipped in the first place. Being that it's Thursday and I can't get it until Monday afternoon adds to the fun and anticipation.

As much as I have wanted to get away from Rolex, I just keep coming back. I'm caught in their web of awesome.

Jesus. I did not see this before my last post. That pic most of all is stunning. Makes me think twice. But not thrice.

While it looks amazing on you, I still think it's too big for me. But damn.

VC Overseas in Comparison to the Daytona

It sounds like the purchase of something else was already made but if not, check out the older 49140s which are 40mm and have symmetrical subdials. I have a 6.5" wrist.

Seth, if you are looking for a new chrono, have you looked at the Glashutte Seventies Chrono? No Screw down pushers, a manufacturer that gives you a loupe, easy to change bracelets, micro adjustable steel bracelets, etc.

If I were looking for another chrono in the Daytona price range, this would be it.
