Please help - Which size 34 or 36 mm?

Hey Guys

My mother wants to give me a everlasting gift. I'v chosen a Rolex watch.

I got pretty small wrists - around 6 inches.

I really want the 36mm Date Just. But I'm in doubt if it would be too big for my wrist and therefore I should bye the 34 Date.

I'v attached some pictures. The watch with the blue dial is the Date Just (36 mm) and the watch with the white dial is the Date (34 mm).

Moste of my friends say I should buy the Date Just (36 mm) because the Date (34mm) looks too small.

I just want a watch to have the rest of my life which does not look too big and not too small.

What do you professional people think and why?

Hope you will answer my question.

Michael

hi , welcome to the forum ,
i like smaller watches , ive an 8 1/4 inch wrist and wear a 36mm , id edge towards 34 in your case , many will say otherwise , really , just try both and see which feels right. ,,,, how about a yacht master mid size , i think they are 35... just a thought.

Welcome to TRF

Get the watch you like most, as you will be the one wearing it of course.
That said, get the 36mm

Damn! What a fast and nice welcome! thanks guys (Dysondiver/Psmith) Regarding the yacht master it is just a little expensive and I like the look of the Day Just/Date. Do I hear you say between the line that the 34mm looks a little too small?

That particular Datejust is a very nice model, and looks good on you imho. 34mm too small for my taste. Difficult to tell from photos, especially because the bracelets are not correctly sized for you. If you are not sure, take your time and don't rush to decide.

Welcome here, I think the 34 looks a bit more balanced, but a more contemporary look will be the 36.
The 36 therefore gets my vote.
Very nice gesture of your mom btw and you did well to choose a Rolex as an everlasting gift.

Thanks PSsmith

I tried a Date Just with the other bezel (still 36 mm) where I tried to keep the bracket tight.... What do you think here?:

I think you're okay either way.

I would go fluted bezel with a DJ though. It's a big part of what makes the watch so iconic.

Not sure if I imagined it I think there was some post in the past to show measurements and conclude there was no difference in case size. To my eyes the difference is minimal - I had to read your post to see which watch was which. Go with what fits your wrist

In your case, I think the 34mm fits you best. I guess it depends if you like the big watch look.

34 and 36 are nice size watches. Both of them look fine on your wrist. Just choose the one you like the most and don't worry about the size; 2mm is not very much.

Both look good, each dial is very nice as well. The fluted bezel'd DateJust is theee watch, over time I think you will appreciate that choice.

Even though 36mm doesn't qualify for the large watch trend, it will look impressive on your wrist. I love mine!

36mm. I have 6" wrists and wore a 36 DJ for 20 years. Now I wear a Sub and Daytona, both 40mm, without issue.

Welcome! 36mm looks good on you and affords many different configurations of bezel, dial and bracelet from which to choose. Make sure you investigate all your options prior to buying. There may be some combinations you have not yet viewed online or at the AD's.

Congrats! What a nice gift from mom!

Your skin tone suits the dark blue more. The 2mm size difference is a red herring. I think the blue looks awesome :-)

I think they both look great on you. 36mm is perhaps a bit on the large side, but if it is comfortable on your wrist it's not a problem. As the others said, just get the one you like, you can't go wrong with either one.

Both watches have the same movement, the only difference is the size of the case and bracelet. The datejust does offer more options. In your case I would go with the Date watch though.

Congrats and Welcome. I have a 7.5 inch wrist and my first Rolex was a 34mm OP. I never felt that watch was too small. I still have it today, only my wife wears it. I think you'll do fine with either one but if I had pick one from your photos, I think the 34mm looks better on your wrist.

It's a big decision, so take your time and let us know which one you choose.

That's a great Mom you have.

Mike I just went back and looked at the photos again. I've changed my mind, I'd go with the blue 36mm. That 2mm difference is nothing. The blue one, IMHO is a much nicer looking watch

I think this size and style suits you.
But i am biased as just agreed to buy a 36mm with this smooth bezel for my wife!
