Can someone explain the difference between 16710 and 16760 GMT Master?
Trying to figure out the difference between these two - and which one is more of a collectors item.
Thanks |

16710 replaced the 16760 with practically the same caliber movement except slightly slimmer case. 16760 has a thicker case and large crown guards. It was the first GMT with both WG indecies and Saphire crystal. It was also the first GMT introduced with the Coke insert (only insert it came with). Both have independent 24 hr hand.
As for collectibility, I'd say the 16710 has a broader following. However, 16760 had a shorter production run '83-'88 vs. '89-'07. Alex |

Just to add, the 16760 was the first GMT-Master II, whereas the the 16710 was the second.

The 16760 is the one I'd have. It's a little less common

Well,...The 16760 introduced the jump hour feature via the 3085 fast beat movement. A short lived movement by Rolex standards, there are those that have said it was not Rolex's finest hour as to movements because it had more parts and is siad to be more difficult to service.
The 16710 introduced the 3185 fast beat movement and was a tad slimmer there for the "fatter" case of the 60 was phased out. The name "Fat lady" was given to the 60 by a German collector who liked the thickness of the case to the Sea-Dweller though it seems to me it's slimmer than that. Of note the 60 had crown guards a bit thicker than the more modern reference. The 60 is the more collectable IMO with the nod going to very early examples with "OYSTER PERPETUAL" on the dial rather than the latter "OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE". The former dial had a run of about one year give or take (it is Rolex after all) Notice the difference between the 60 and 610 in the photo. Mine is latter example. Of note the 60 was only released with the RED/BLACK insert though the other colors will work (modern) and only in SS. |

Curious what this will bring, the 16710 has shown increased price at auction recent years, and the 16760 even more. |

Most certainly. The original minute hand was wider with more lume. The pict below illustrates the difference. The 16760 is on the right. Full size image https://www.minus4plus6.com/images/1...Render%203.jpg - Sheldon

Just for reference, The fat lady case is thicker than a 16610. It also has a thicker bezel than the other GMT2 models.

Could you place some enlarged photos here comparing the two dials with a clear shot of the hands. The photo you posted is too small for me to compare. Thanks.

Click the link and you'll get a full-size photo. Here is is below.
My 16760 minute hand looks marginally wider than Luminova hands as well, regardless of being 16760 service parts or 16710. But, that could just be a slight difference between tritium and Luminova hand dimensions. |
