First Rolex in Singapore
Hello from down under ! I'm off to Turkey next week however will be in Singapore for a couple of days. I've read previously Singapore is an ideal country to make a purchase and I'm looking to join the Rolex club. Does anyone have any valuable advice they can share with me in regards to which AD's or what to look out for etc... Would appreciate any kind of input. Thank you all in advance.

Maybe you could have a look at the duty free shops inside the airport, you will save the GST.

Singapore is expensive and availability isn't that great for the sought after models. And the really sought after models are "market price".
A few months ago, there was one AD on Orchard with SS Black dial Daytona, and it was 18000SGD (over 13000USD). Same watch in EU is 9200USD. EU is the place to buy Rolex right now. |

Wow I'm a little surprised. Really appreciate the feedback thank you all. Perhaps I hold off til I get to Turkey and therefore I can claim the VAT when leaving.
Ps My Rolex knowledge is limited and I must say I'm learning a great deal from this forum. Lot of passionate and knowledgeable individuals. Keep up the good work guys. |

9200 usd in EU for a black faced Daytona? That's much cheaper than Spore! A white dial is going for ard 15500 SGD or ard 11600 USD here from an AD.....

Don't buy from an AD in Singapore, some watches are selling for over MRSP.
I did see a grey market dealer in China Town. They had more Rolexes than my local AD. |

The hour glass in Raffles place has a sd4k in stock. Their prices were the same as the Uk as today's exchange rate when I looked at a BLNR. You can get a discount of around 5% at the hour glass outlets. There is another under the Marriott on Orchard and a great flagship store just off orchard which is a must visit. HJ luxury is worth a visit for used Rolex is Far East plaza on Scott's road. You can claim the 7% GST when leaving at the airport.
Probably a better deal in Turkey. I am buying a BLNR on a trip to the Uk next week for the same reason.

Would HK be a Bette rplace for a Daytona.. Seems that the pricing is pretty close to Singapore now.... It's 87500 hKD for a white faced Daytona...
I am in the hunt for the Daytona myself now,,, |

My job takes me to Singapore often. Lots of stores along Orchard Rd to drool over timepieces but haven't found prices to be very good compared to US and especially to EU with current currency situation. Enjoy the city !

Great thread.
The Daytona in US is USD$12000 list. Is the Daytona going for US 9200 or EU 10550, and in which EU country? I'm confused from the posts earlier. Hong Kong price of HKD 87500 is fair, I heard the price is firm if anyone can confirm?

Sorry but the prices in US are much higher compared to Singapore. I don't know about the EU BUT, if you are sincere and pay in cash, it is possible to get a 10% discount and in some cases if you are really lucky, 15% off the list price here in SG. After the discounts the prices are far cheaper compared to the US. Go to the Hour Glass AD at Tang Plaza/Orchard. Singapore is one of if not, the cheapest places to buy Rolexes.

Hmmmm...some say Singapore is too expensive for Rolex, others say it's the exact opposite.

Prices in Singapore are not especially high. Prices at AD's in Orchard seemed about on par with prices in Hong Kong allowing for exchange rates, so not cheap but not bumped up either, but I only looked at a couple of watches last time. You can negotiate on most watches.

Right this second, I'm in Guam on my way home after a job in the Marshall Islands and Micronesia. I had to overnight here because of flight connections. Anyhoo, I popped into an AD while downtown last night and prices here are duty free. I looked at an 116613 LN and was quoted a price of US$12,045. My AD has offered me the same piece for the equivalent of US$11,460. Ok, that price is discounted because of my relationship with my AD but the retail price is the equivalent of US$13,100 which, considering the Guam price is duty free, there's not much difference. Also, when leaving Singapore, you can claim back 6% tax back on purchases over S$10,000 (5.5% under S$10,000). I've read people on here saying that you can't rely on getting your tax back. Well, in Singapore you can. My wife flies out to Singapore every month and has NEVER had an issue with tax refunds and when she's made purchases, she has received her tax refund EVERY time. My advice to the OP is shop around the ADs and try for best discount you can. Avoid the AD at Marina Bay as they charge significantly above retail on certain pieces, such as SS Daytona. If I'm in town at the same time as you, I can introduce you to my AD and you'll get looked after.

I buy often in Singapore. Always in the Rolex boutiques which I know them well in orchard area.. I get 5% off for SS and 7-8% off depending on gold or pt n which model, when I leave Singapore, I claim tax return at the airport thus another 5.5% off. I think prices in Singapore is on par with the rest of the world. Plus I feel MUCH safer buying in SG. Security plays a major part in my shopping. A friend of mine was robbed as soon as she step out of a Rolex boutique in Kuala Lumpur.
Happy shopping! .. Jen |

OK. I checked in the Hour Glass today at Raffles Place. They have a SD4K in stock. Price is SGD$13580, which is USD$10209 or GBP6520. You can probably get 5% off and then the 6% off at the airport which lowers the price to SGD$12126, or USD$9116 or GBP5822

If you have time, check out the oldest Rolex AD in Singapore, which is Lee Chay in Peninsula Plaza. They are much smaller than the big players like Hourglass or Watch Palace and so are less constrained when it comes to offering discounts.
Of course they may not have the model you want in stock on the day that you are there but there's no harm trying. Good luck. |
