About Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore
hello all...
my name is Henry and I am a newbie watch enthusiast, recently I've just sold all my watches : - Rolex Daytona SS 116520 Black Dial (2013) - Rolex GMT Master II SS 116710LN (2011) - Officine Panerai PAM00233 (2008) and after that I bought a pre owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Novelty SS 26400SO.OO.A002CA.01 (2013) I would like to know more about AP since I still don't know much about it and I also heard some bad things about AP from some peoples, so here are my questions (although some of them are too late to ask :p) : 1. Can I use my AP for daily activities without hesitation ? 2. I bought my AP for $ 21,600 so is AP worth buying for that price or not ? 3. What makes AP watches are expensive ? 4. Is it true that there are some problems with the chronograph on AP ? 5. Is It true that to avoid problem, it's better that we don't use the chrono ? 6. how about if i want to swim, play snow, etc can I use my AP or not ? 7. Is it true that some peoples also says that AP is not a tough watch like rolex or panerai ? thanks in advance and hopefully there are peoples here who could answer my questions |

1) Yes 2) Value ( ie worth it or not ) is subjective. That is something you only you can tell, ie, if you are very happy with the watch and love wearing it, I will say it's worth it. 3) The brand, the prestige, the finishing etc... which you are paying a premium for 4) Not the I heard of 5) Not at all, it's mean to be used. 6) Yes if you are careful with it. 7) That is right. Compare to Rolex at least, AP is not so robust. Mainly because if you use it for rough activities and are not careful, you may risk damaging the finishing like having dings and scratches. However, I just noticed you got an Offshore so that's quite OK in terms of robustness. Last edited by benlee; 3 June 2015 at 09:16 PM.. Reason: Re-answer questions |

The movement inside your watch has 365 tiny tiny parts that are hand polished. for not knowing much about the watch you have made a good choice with the 26400 SS.
The screws you see on the front are white gold and the black outer bezel is a very high quality ceramic. with the chrono function, its best to use it every now and again otherwise the oil in the movement can dry up and make it less accurate. just don't hammer nails in with it on your wrist or play golf as the high G-forces will make it less accurate and need a service earlier. Just remember everything can be fixed with a service. just at a cost. Also have a look at the white rubber strap for it. I think it looks amazing matched with the 26400 SS white dial. seriously cool. I want one. |

What is done, is done. I'm not sure I would have made that trade as you had 3 very excellent watches.
AP higher up on the prestigious scale, but that is something only a very small group of people care about in the world. The AP has a slower-beat movement which is harder to regulate, but it should be robust enough for most activities you can throw at it. Now you bought a used watch so any issues with it will have to come out of your own pocket. Personally, as much as I love APs history and (some) designs, I wouldn't trade any of my Rolex for an AP for daily use, I find Rolex much more reliable and robust, and I feel a lot less bad about banging up the bracelet and case of a Rolex diver than a hand polished AP. Now enjoy your watch, it must have been a grail of some sort. If I were you I'd consider adding simple Rolex, like a Sub 114060 or Explorer 214270, to have a "beater" watch as well. |

Sounds good to me. You got a good price as well.
I'd only miss the 233 of the ones you sold. The 26400 is a solid watch, so wear with no concerns.

1.Yes ofc you can
2.Good deal 3.The name says it all (history, heritage, etc..) 4.If maintained well then no 5.No, thats what the watch is made for 6.Make sure crown is closed (never use a tool to close a crown), check the pushers before you go under water 7.My daily beater the past 3 years is a AP RO 15300, it takes a bigger beating than my Sub and handles it well , except i recommend the Rolex for that task |

1. Can I use my AP for daily activities without hesitation ?
Yes, absolutely 2. I bought my AP for $ 21,600 so is AP worth buying for that price or not ? Only you can judge that. 3. What makes AP watches are expensive ? Premiumness, heritage, history, brand name, quality products. 4. Is it true that there are some problems with the chronograph on AP ? Not that I have experienced. 5. Is It true that to avoid problem, it's better that we don't use the chrono ? No, why should it? 6. how about if i want to swim, play snow, etc can I use my AP or not ? I use mine (ROO 24670) as a daily beater, in the gym, swimming, showering, in the office etc. Thatīs why I bought it, to wear it everyday. No problems whatsoever. 7. Is it true that some peoples also says that AP is not a tough watch like rolex or panerai ? There are for sure tougher watches. Toughest of all are Seikos, Casios and Sinnīs of the world. But you always have a tradeoff on finish, expensive movements and expensive materials etc. You decide what you think is more prioritized. |

Henry is your surname Akuza or are you Yakuza? Because that affects many of my answers.

my username is "henryakuza" cause almost all social media that I got (twitter, instagram, etc) are also using the same name don't worry... I am not a real yakuza, a lot of my friend call me "yakuza" because I have tattoos on my body that similar to "yakuza style" tattoo so that's why I add my name + yakuza and it become... henryakuza :p |
