Best advice is to visit an AD !!
I have been lurking for a whilst whilst I make up my mind about a purchase.
There is a lot of good information on the forum that has made some worthwhile reading for me so thank you to all the posters. I had my mind set on a GMT BLNR and had the opportunity today to visit a local AD in the NE of England and tried on: GMT BLNR GMT Black Subc Date Black SD4000 Having them all sat side by side was a really useful experience I decided that the GMT's were a bit too flashy for me and I was not happy with the polished centre links I really liked the SD4000 it sat well on my wrist and doesn't look anywhere near as big as you would think, but it is too thick to wear comfortably with a shirt on a daily basis The SubC was the biggest looking on my wrist but..... I was very impressed by the glidelock and it wasn't as flashy as the GMT, also the Bezel is slightly less fussy for my tastes, and it sat well on my wrist with a shirt sleeve. The fact that the sales person had a subc of his own that fitted my wrist was a really useful experience because it was very difficult to compare actual fitting, but having tried his on it helped my appreciation of the fit. Looks like the subc is going to be my choice.......all I have to do now is stump up the cash !!! Raggy |

For a Rolex visit an AD. Buy from trusted seller here (unless AD will match their price).
Good luck with purchase. |

It's good advice to try several on while looking.

Amazing how a Sub becomes the choice for so many buyers! Despite preconceived notions, side by side comparisons and any number of ways one comes to a decision, the Sub wins out so many times. Congrats and hope you enjoy it.

I obviously love Subs but the Sea Dweller is a great piece. I am glad it caught your eye because I feel it really rounds out the Rolex Dive collection with its siblings the Submariner and Deep Sea.

Can't go wrong with the Sub. Post wrist pics once you get it.
You were very wise to take the time to discover the best choice for yourself by trying them on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk while driving down the interstate at 75 mph

Many times has a watch looked very different in person than in pictures. An AD visit to compare is always a good step, even if you are planning to purchase at a later date. It allows you move with confidence should an opportunity arise.

SubC is a great choice. Glidelock clasp is great.

If those 3 I would go with the SD4k. I think that it wears as well with a suit and tie as a sub does and you will not see one on every other wrist. But, the spot for a sub in my watch box is reserved for a WG Smurf.

I recently walked into my AD looking for a 214270 Exp I. I tried it on along with a 114060, and SD4k. I liked the 114060 Sub the best of the lot. The SD4k was more comfortable than I thought it would be, but it also wore much smaller than I thought it would too. Definitely go try them all on.

I thought I was set on a 216570. After a trip to the AD, I realized the SubC was the best one for me.

What was it about the GMT that made it seem more flashy to you than the SubC, if you don't mind my asking? If it's the polished centre links, those can be brushed out easily and inexpensively. Otherwise, they're pretty identical except for the GMT being slimmer in lugs and caseback.

I passed by the AD on the Friday and the BLNR was in the window, by Monday it was in the safe awaiting customer collection. I have seen a few displayed so do not perceive a great shortage of them. |

I think time at an AD is essential. There are really great photographers both for brand websites and here on TRF. So many photos here set me drooling only to have me let down when I see a particular model in person. In my opinion, the only shortcoming with an AD is that you cannot try on a watch that is fitted to your wrist size.
