Will wearing your bracelet snug wear it out? (just curious)

Hey guys,

Just out of curiosity.
I usually prefer to wear my bracelet pretty snug, as I hate my watch to move around my wrist.
Will does cause the bracelet to wear out, or is it irrelevant?

Also on that note. I have read a lot about the bracelet "stretch".
What exactly does that mean? And how do you prevent it from happening?

I like my bracelet very snug on my wrist also; I removed 3 links for this effect (also because my wrist is smaller than average). I have a sub c so the glidelock allows me to expand when needed--not sure about wearing a bracelet out but I do know a tighter fit will put more "stretch" or tension to the bracelet; then again a looser bracelet wil cause it to jingle and bang up against your wrist more so who knows about what damage is done

Its not stretch its from wear what happens if not kept clean the dirt from every day wearing with the natural bracelet friction movement.It elongates the screw holes to prevent this from happening for many many years wear snug fit and keep clean.

Dirt gets in between the links and acts like sandpaper, grinding away the steel or gold on older bracelets. As long as you clean the bracelet regurally, wear it however you like

No. Actually, wearing it snug is better for your bracelet than wearing it excessively loose.

A too loose bracelet will subject every link and spring bar to "hammering" (as well as the movement parts inside) as the heavy head constantly pulls and pushes during every body/hand movement.

No different than hammering a nail into a wall. You can hold the hammer snug against the nail and it won't go anywhere - but even a minimal amount of movement and the nail will eventually go fully into the wall.

Dirt in the link tubes is like sandpaper and a loose fit allows the links to pivot more which in turn just grinds the grit against the pins and link holes, causing wear. A snug bracelet stays much more "quiet" on the wrist thereby minimizing this sanding action.

This, better to be snug and clean than loose and dirty,,, and only on a watch forum could you say this and not have it sound ,,, dirty!

Warm soapy water and a toothbrush or similar... Also, removing the bracelet and putting it through a ultrasonic cleaner a couple times a year helps a lot.

You will never hurt or damage a bracelet by wearing it snug. Folks who wear their watches loose and sloppy are what wears out the links and pins. As been said, clean on a regular basis with Dawn or similar and a soft bristle toothbrush under warm water. Dry with a terrycloth bathroom hand towel.
