Is it a red flag if the seller refuses to do a face to face transaction
Is it just me. Or is it a red flag if the seller refuse to do a face to face transaction even if both parties are local.
Basically the seller just will only accept wire transfer then arrange for pickup or send out the piece after the funds clear even for people who are in their local area. Will not accept things like going to the bank and having funds directly drawn out and deposited into the sellers account. Or hand the seller the cash so they can deposit it into the bank. Of course having the piece authenticated at a watcher maker or jewelers then have the cash changes hands is out of the question. The buyer's basic reason for not doing the above mention is that he is too busy and his word is good. Last edited by bluerolex; 20 July 2015 at 11:20 AM.. Reason: typo |

Not necessarily; they could be worried about security and saying something else. It would depend on their track record.

Please tell him your words are good too.. please send the watch first and you will send him the money via wire after. Alternatively, he can choose to meet in person.

Personally I would rather do a face to face if I was the seller. That way you don't have to risk it in the mail and pay for shipping and insurance etc. so yea, I would pass.

No worries, not clear on the question then but....
Buyer....not an issue if he won't show, money's in the bank confirmed...send the watch. Seller....issue if won't show, but depends....If Davidsw tells me he's busy, no worries, David is the man. He's held on to my money for months. Someone from Craigslist..? hell no, red flag. |

You are wright if it is a person like David that is one thing. But even David would not have a problem doing a face to face and he has done face to face. |

Agree, and have done FTF deals w David, just making the point if he(or seller) of his caliber were to say he's busy...it's legit.

Pass. If he doesn't have time to meet in person he doesn't have time to help if something goes wrong.

He has enough time to ship it but doesn't have enough time to meet and complete a transaction? I would pass
There is no logical reason for him not wanting to meet unless it was a scam. If he was worried about getting robbed, offer to meet a the local police station. |
