Bracelet polishing in San Jose area

Can anyone recommend a a place to get the bracelet on my GMT2c polished in the San Jose area, or would I be better off taking a quick trip to SF to the Rolex Authorized Service Center on Post St.?

You'll probably be better off waiting until it needs servicing. Learn to enjoy the bumps and scuffs for now

Try Kroman Watchworks in south SJ. While I don't have any experience with their polishing they have done outstanding work servicing my modern Rolex watches and both techs are CW21 certified.

Normally I would, but I wasn't careful enough with the cape cod cloth on the PCLs and kinda messed up the brushed finished areas of the bracelet. Dont like the look of it now. Never again will I try that lol

Hope you have learnt something from your cape cod experience,the only time that any Rolex needs any sort of polishing is RSC service time only.

I've used Kroman twice and have mixed feelings. They are good at what they do and are the only certified repair shop that in SJ last I checked.

Just be CRYSTAL CLEAR on what you want them to do. They seem to take the "we know better" tact that I'm not a big fan of. If you don't want them to touch your case: tell them and ask to speak to the tech doing the work and tell him too.

I would just go to the SF RSC, better making the drive than ending up with a less than perfect refinishing job.

I agree with you on that. I was quoted for a servicing cost that was way above even what Rolex Service Center charges.

I found Mr. Kroman to be pretentious and impatient with me. After he was done looking at my watch, he gave it back to me without even screwing the caseback on fully. This was spotted by the watchmaker I chose (Rik in Florida).

Maybe it was a bad day for Kroman or maybe it wasn't. However, I won't be returning to his shop again.

I'm kind of surprised there's not a couple of "go to" guys in the San Jose area. I'd think there'd be a crapload of Rolexes in that town. Try calling a couple of ADs in the area. Many of them have indies they use as a less expensive/quicker turnaround alternative for their customers.

I don't understand people that think they can fix a scratched up PCL when there's a brushed surface right next to it. Probably had a couple of cocktails and then decided to have it it...

I don't understand why you find the need to add useless information to the thread that helps me in zero way, especially after I already stated earlier that I made a mistake.

To anyone else reading this, don't use cape cod cloths, even if you think you've covered the brushed parts sufficiently with tape.

RSC on Post for sure. You could call Shreve and Co in SF or the one in Stanford mall to ask who does their work. I did notice their SF location did have a larger collection of Rolex.

Just an update. I saved myself some time and money. I bought a box of scotchbrite 7447 cheap on amazon. I fig'd that since I already messed it up, and i was going to take it to have it polished, I couldn't do anymore harm and it was worth a shot. Well, the 7447 pads are amazing! Fixed the brushed links and made them look like new. Saved me $150 to have the bracelet polished.

Lessons learned:

stay away from cape cod cloths!
7447 pads work nice for a quick fix.
your better off waiting until service time for a polishing.

7447 pads work awesome on a brushed stainless steel sink and will make the wifey happy. Use sparingly. Don't want to set any expectations.
