Getting a honeymoon Rolex in Europe

hi all,

my first post. in this forum. Joined the forum in 2008 when i first bought my sub but never posted any stuff. :p

Needed some help - I will be going to Europe for my honeymoon and am planning to get a "honeymoon" rolex for memento. I will be in Italy (Florence and Rome) and France (Paris) and i am intending to get a daytona - either SS or TT.

I have looked through the threads in the forum but still need some help, so please bear with me - A couple of questions

1 - Is it even likely to find a SS daytona in these cities? Was told that i will need to pay a premium price in any of the authorised dealer in Europe

2 - How many % can i hope for if i am getting a TT daytona in Rome/Florence/Paris?

3 - Any recommended rolex authorised dealers that i should visit in Rome or Florence?

Once again, thanks for your help!

Regards

Ss Daytona is hard to find, I just came back from London/Paris trip and didn't see one. The discount will be depending on the relationship with ad, maybe 5%? Better make some phone calls first. Hope you find what you are looking for.

The small AD on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence is a nice place to buy a watch if you want a memorable location for your honeymoon purchase, but if you want discounts, head out to smaller towns in Tuscany. See Rolex.com for a list.

Thank you guys for your advice - appreciate it.

Regarding the discount on TT - i did emailed them previously....but was told it was rude to discuss about discount! Was told if i am keen to put a deposit first then we can talk later....pretty weird. I was able to get 10% discount for two tone rolex in Singapore...not sure if this is the practice in Italy or France.

I was on my honeymoon and we went to Switzerland. I was super lucky to get a SS Daytona. We got it from Bucherer. There was no discounts but also no premium. good luck and keep us posted

Discounts on SS Daytona, as a first time purchaser from an AD... Nope.

AD's aren't allowed to charge premiums. (Not officially)

It isn't rude to discuss a discount in Europe.

Try Chrono24.com, you might find one there, that is available for sale in Rome or Paris.

TT should be easy to find, for SS look on chrono24 and call ADs near those big cities.

you will see TT Daytonas all over the place and may get a discount on them, not the SS

I'm with Neil, if you're not dead set on SS, should be pretty easy to find. I am, however, not an expert on European AD's.

20%! Wow... Please recommend the AD that can offer that. I was offered 10% in my local AD.

In Paris check out Heurgon...avoid Wempe and Bucherer and they dont give any discounts even for common rolex models..Dont expect any discount for a daytona or green sub or other hard to find models..just feel lucky if they have it in stock...best AD where you can possibly get discounts and even pay without tax are small cities that are not too touristy..

Seems like they certainly do. They're not allowed to charge a premium in the UK but it's the norm here for desirable and hard-to-get references

+1 on this! I've bought a total of 4 watches there (two for me and two for a friend) and my experiences there were wonderful. I worked with Silvio both times and he was great to deal with. Highly recommend this location.

Giuseppe at Prosperi 1816 in Arezzo, near Florence, is also a great guy to deal with.

I have not seen any SS Daytona on display windows while travelling. Probably getting discount off the SS Daytona is difficult because there are customers who are ready for paying the retail price. Getting the discount while buying a TT is surely possible.
By the way when I last year spend some days in London. I was sitting at a cafe and at the table beside me a woman was drinking coffee with her friend wearing the white dialled SS Daytona. I had then my black dialled on my wrist. She told to have had her Daytona already in ten years.

Hi all ... Need some advice - currently I am in Paris and was in a AD - les montres at rue Bonaparte . Saw the two tone Daytona that I wanted. But the sales guy told me that there is no discount given for any Rolex. He will only give a 16% tax rebate. After some discussion he was only able to reduce the price from 14650 to 14000.... Is this a good deal ???

I was in Paris 2 weeks ago and spent some time at RomainRea. Impressive vintage and pre-owned collection on Rue de Bac. http://www.romainrea.com

When in Florence, may I suggest going for a Panerai from the original Panerai workshop in Florence (now and AD). I picked up a PAM Zero there last summer. Nice experience, and a quintessential Florence icon.

Paris and London ADs will not move much on price. If you want the experience then buy but better deals can be had elsewhere, so you have to decide if the tax break is worth it.

thank you to all who have shared with me on where to get the daytona watch! i am back after my honeymoon...the journey to find "A" daytona has been a really interesting one - brought me from London to Paris to Florence to Rome, back to Singapore and then Malaysia!

As shared - none of the AD in Paris/London/Florence/Rome has the SS daytona available... some even mentioned that i will need to be in waiting list for 1 year before it is available. I managed to go to the AD in Florence as recommended by a forumer here - it was really a beautiful place and the salesman in Florence was really friendly ....but again it is not available.

My last stop was in Rome where i visited all the Haussmann outlets ard spanish
steps. Managed to find a TT panda daytona in one of the outlets but they were not
willing to budge on the discounts. Literally have to beg for a discount and in the end i was only given a 5% discount. So i went back to Singapore empty-handed.

while in Singapore a couple of days ago, i was offered a SS white dial
daytona with a 5% discount for 14.9K SGD (10.1k USD) but decided not to go ahead as i may be traveling to malaysia.

Was pretty fortunate to find the same white dial daytona in Kualu Lumpur last week - due to the sharp depreciation of the Malaysian Ringgit, i paid 40.6k ringgit (13.3K SGD or 9.7k USD), before tax refund.

Will be sharing more pics once i figure out how to upload them.

Once again, thanks to all
