Why I prefer Tudor over Rolex!

1. They are more affordable

2. Personally I think there watches have better styling and variety

3. There new lineup uses in house movement

4. What's not to like

I think Tudor are becoming a equal to Rolex, just like when Skoda used to be a brand people laugh at , now they are equal to VW if not better.

I like that all the anxious enquiries about safety, damage, alignment, scratches and all the other worries and stigmas that Rolex watches generate here, just don't seem to come up with Tudor. I also appreciate the company heritage, which goes back much further than most people think, and the kind of 'anti-brand' self-confidence of the un-Rolex.

You're right, Tudor does make some ugly watches. Then so does Rolex.

Really? Ok. In a pinch, go sell your Tudor and see how enamoured you remain. Nothing wrong with Tudor but the comparison is flawed on many levels. To each his own.

This is my own personal opinion so I'm not speaking for everyone else!

But my cheapest Swiss watch is my Tudor ranger and I would say that it is my favourite too and the one I wear the most.

I agree. As a hopeless dive watch addict, i do not plan to part with either of my TT subs. However, the BB is now my daily. Waiting for the Blue Pelagos.

Very well said Adam, Tudor seems to be the wear it and don't worry about it brand.

In my home country, the UK, Skodas are still joked about as `VWs for thrifty (mean/tight) people` but the Czech company made some amazing cars in the 1950s. Err, Tudor's rebirth over past three years is amazing but I suspect the scratches, alignment etc issues you mention is because owners don't care quite as much. But I may be wrong.... (First post by long-time reader, New Rolex owner. Still want a BB)

When I first acquired a few Tudors, namely the Ranger, Black Bay and Pelagos I thought just as the OP in this thread.
The more I researched watches and the more I looked at them, the more my opinion changed towards Rolex.
I personally feel the quality of Rolex is second to none and have flipped 2 of the 3 Tudors for Rolex's in recent months.
Upgrades?? To me yes.
Pelagos is still here for now, but a 36mm Explorer is on the cards soon.
Flipping watches is a disease.

I have a great appreciation for both brands. Can't argue with Tudor's price point and quality for the money. Looking forward to picking up the new Pelagos this year. Rolex will always be my go to though.

Yes you could get a pelagos and black bay for the cost of a submariner ceramic and still save some cash. To each his own. I'd rather have the sub, although the pelagos is a very cool watch.

IMO, so long as Rolex owns Tudor, Tudor will never surpass Rolex in Prestige--sales, on the other hand, may be different as Rolex will most obviously market Tudor as everyone's entry level luxury timepiece...quite frankly, the exclusivity and history of the Rolex brand is what helps to maintain its position in the market today.

There is nothing wrong to like Tudor. Having a Rolex on wrist doesn't exclude a Tudor and vice versa.

I think this kind of "either/or" discussion is unproductive. I love my Big Block. I love my Rolexes. Different price points, different stylings, different market segmenting, different options all make for a wonderful world.

I have had the Tudor Blackbay. Beautiful watch that came in a very nice box that I prefer as much better quality then where my Rolex watches came in.



The new Pelagos is also very beautiful I think

Not crazy about some of Tudor's designs, but acknowledge that they are producing well made watches at attractive price points. I've thought about picking up a BB as a weekend watch and very well may still get one. I still prefer my Rolexes though.

I know want you mean. That is why I won't buy the beautiful Blue Pelagos as much as I love it, but I prefer my Blue Smurf over that one

Still, I think Tudors are indeed very nice priced watches with a fantastic historie, made of very good quality
