MacBook help
I'm looking for a new laptop.
I've looked around online but I'm struggling to see what would suit me best. I need a cd drive and the MacBook air doesn't have this so its out of the equation. What's the difference between a MacBook and MacBook pro ? I'm going to be using for university work, emails, web browsing, spotify ect. Someone please help! |

Air is smaller, thinner, lighter.
Pro has beefed up specs. Processor, longer battery. It no longer has a CD rom. But just get a cheap slim-line usb CD/DVD drive. That's what I have. And for your needs the Air is more that adequate. Or get the new "Macbook" it's just called Macbook now. It's basically an improved air 12" Most important is pop into the shop and get the right size screen you want. |

Oh sorry Walter yes your question was difference bewteen macbook and macbook pro, not air.
Have a look at the comparisons. Basically the Pro is going to be a faster machine. But the macbook is more than enough for your needs and is a much smaller machine, better for carrying around. None of them come with CD rom anymore. http://www.apple.com/shop/mac/compare |

I have both the AIR and the PRO, for the air if I need a CD drive I have an external one that I can plug in.
The AIR is plenty fast for what I need it to do, and it is much smaller so that is the one that gets the most use from me |

Hi Walter

Both are phenomenal and are so easy to use. The screen is amazing

I still favour the MacBook Air 13. The new MacBook doesn't have a USB port. Just the usbc port. That would annoy me. The extra 3 hours battery life from the air is even better.

The USB-C has not been an issue for me and the battery life on the new MacBook is fine for what I need
