NYC RSC -- No go on a leather strap purchase.
So, I went to the NYC RSC to purchase a leather (croc) strap for my 1601 DJ. Picked it out, was all ready to pay... and then they came back and told me that in no way they could sell me the strap because of the re-lumed dial. "It's not our lume," was their reply, therefore no strap purchase. Anyone experienced that before?
Really wanted to get that croc strap and Rolex SS buckle. |

Silly RSC rules... You can buy both on eBay for cheaper.

Wow! I'm a little surprised they can't sell you an accessory. I know they won't service your watch if there is unauthentic parts. You could try calling a boutique and telling them you want to purchase that strap for your watch, but you don't have your watch with you at the moment. You'd just like to order that strap. They might hook u up.

Ridiculous things like this make me second guess being a Rolex owner. It's honestly like they think they still own the watch. Imagine a car dealership not selling you tires because you put a new stereo in your car.

I don't buying throw other avenues, but with this... I think I rather go with something trustworthy.
Oh boy, sounds like a new thread starter, right? LOL. As watch owners, there's a level of OCD... how dare we encounter that at the RSC. Big time... it was disappointing too, as much as I go there. Never thought of that... I guess that's one way going about it. |

Wow! I'm a bit stunned that Rolex has a policy that prevents accessories from being sold due to renewed lume.
Is that written somewhere? Or, is this a local on a bender? |

I can understand that it's probably a precautionary stance that they take so people can't build their own versions of Rolex watches for whatever reasons. It keeps the brand pure.
...come back 1 year!

I was told the policy is only selling accessories according to the model. It means that you can't buy a leather strap for your SS or WG watch.

That would be fine if that what was they told me initially.... but not only did I call in advance to speak to someone and explain to them my situation, I went in, with the piece, they OK'ed it and strap was picked out and ready to be sold when they came back at me with the re-lume story.
