S/G GMTII-C, Platty or Y/G FS YM?

Giving a gift to my Dad and need some advice....which is a better gift for an older guy with a history of wearing simpler things. He'd love anyone of them.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Of the mentioned, I would choose the GMT IIc.

A more understated one would be the SS Sub Date, imho.
