I can't speak on discounts in the UK but enjoy the AD visit. Can't go wrong with either of those two.

Check Chrono24's UK sellers.....not to buy, but just to see the prices.

Given I got 6% last time I hope I get at least that today, so would work out about £5734 from an AD You think I should try negotiating a bit more off that? I would be paying cash and plan to buy 1 watch a year from this AD |

I don't know about ADs in UK but one is able to get good discount for SD4K in Hong Kong. Hulk, maybe 8% at best but most ADs do not have stock for this piece.

And unless somebody carries it in from the U.S. you'll be done by customs.

That's exactly what my plan is. I figure if I plan to buy a watch to mark each milestone in life I might as well maintain a mutual relationship with the AD Plus he is a top guy, I have been in to several ADs and he is the only AD that will bring out several watches for me to view and offer drinks etc. Some ADS rush the hell out of you, everytime I have been in to see him he has given me atleast an hour of his time and he so enthusiastic about watches and knows his stuff so its a pleasure meeting him, and for me that's what seals the deal for me and is the reason I buy from him rather than any other local AD that state discounting is against "rolex law" regarding stock - he has pretty much all SS models in and if he hasn't he gets them in within weeks |

cheers buddy
I had the black sub for 9 months and made a daft decision and sold it I loved the watch but found there was days that I loved it and other days that I found it a little boring, dunno maybe I just needed a bit of colour in my life lol I think the Hulk and maybe a SD400 would be a great future combo |

Be aware that Jersey is not in the EU fiscal area so the watch is free of tax. Legally you shoud declare it on arrival in the UK when the nice Border Force man will relieve you of many pounds of VAT.

As you are in Sheffield and near Hull, you could take a ferry trip to Rotterdam or Zeebrugge. Check the Rolex web site for AD's within reach. Although the pound has fallen against the Euro recently, you may well be able to save a tidy sum even taking into account your ferry fare. Do your homework first.
Buying from an AD in the EU is exactly the same tax wise as buying in the UK.

Might struggle to get a discount on the hulk, used they are fetched new money.
Have a word with ste Jopson at jopsons jewellers, I went to uni with him and he always sorts me out a good deal. Tell him Phil sent you if you ring him. |

Here is what you do. Go in and tell them you are ready to buy. During conversation while you are trying on the watches let them know that you love shopping there but you can get such a better deal on the forum from a trusted seller. If they ask you say 15% off retail. Then change the subject back to looking at the watches. Choose the one you want and then ask them for their best deal. After they give it to you even if it's good tell them you are going to think it over and decide if it's worth losing so much money from buying from the forum. Let them know you want it by tomorrow and will make a decision by morning. If they want the business they wont let you walk out without at least 10% off and you may even get the 15% depending how good and actor you are. :) Good luck

Don't get me wrong I'm not being all high and mighty as I know full well a lot of people do it but the OP should be aware of the implications. I've found from an EU AD I see around 15-20% off UK retail, best I've done in the UK on a SS Rolex is 10% (old Signet shares trick at Ernest Jones) after that it's only been 5% so I now get mine from EU AD's. EU means no duty/customs concerns. Also to add if you end up wanting the 116600 make sure you can secure a good discount as discounted EU prices have the 116610LV and 116600 sit very similar at £5500-£5600 |

Guys in the UK discounts are harder to get then in the U.S especially on SS models!
10% in my option is very good here, 0-5% is the best I've found! |
