I agree. Serial same as reference may worn out. Bare in mind that the watch has almost 40 year and maybe equiped with a metal bracelet which caused friction. Doesn't look like it's been erased on purpose. I've got the sale watch, in champagne and in blue dial. Go for it, Air King rocks.
