Icon14 First Rolex Purchase - I Need Help !

Hello All, Long time lurker on TRF but first actual post,
to cut a long story short,
I've recently become a father and I have always enjoyed watches, So now I'm really drawn to Rolex as a watch for myself and then when my little boy is 18, I'm going to buy him one, a bit of a family tradition. My father got a watch from my grandfather at 18 and I got a 1914 Silver Zenith Pocketwatch for my 18th ...
So I'm stuck with a Rolex purchase for myself: Im stuck between a GMT Master II BLNR, Or a Submariner 'Hulk'...

any recommendations, for an against any of the 2 watches, the watch will be a everyday watch which will be worn while working as a Senior Sales Consultant for a large multinational company who has a worldwide retail presence.

your help will be much appreciated !

Either would be a great choice!
Being that you work in international sales, I would think the GMT would come in pretty handy.

Both great
But very different

Soon as you see them both side by side you will know what i mean.

Can't go wrong with either

Two great choices, go try them both on and get what makes you smile more. Congratulations on the birth of your son and welcome to TRF.

Both great, but whichever you choose make sure you brainwash your son into loving blue or green so the watch goes over beautifully when he inherits it.

It seems that the BLNR (with various time zones for international retail points) is more suitable for your current job. Besides, the BLNR is one of the most stunning modern Rolex watches.

Thanks for the responses so far, maybe I didn't explain it correctly it when I wrote it but I work for a company with a worldwide retail presence, I'm not allowed to say who I work for. (part of my contract).. but I could say they might be named after a fruit? and it's a US Company based out of California...However I'm based in the UK and will only be traveling for Personal Holidays, very little travel involved in my job...unfortunately, but when I do travel I travel to Japan every year (I married a Japanese national) and have a lot of family in the USA.

I see your 2, but would suggest a datejust. Timeless classic. Then again, you could always get him a smart watch. I hear that company Apple makes one. Disregard that. It would be obsolete in a year, much less 18. Cheers and congratulations on a Son.

Go to an AD and try both watches on,as this is the only way you can see which one you prefer. If you like the green, then the SubC will stand out. Both nice watches. Whereabouts in the UK are you ?

I would take the blnr or black sub. I saw the hulk yesterday while buying my black and not very versatile in my opinion.

I agree with Travis, with a job in multinational sales, the GMT makes more sense.

But, it's not always about sense, either..

To me it comes down to the color. Hulk is one of my favorites but as an only Rolex and one you would be using for most things I was say the green wont work. BLNR all the way. However if I were you I'd start with a black Sub.
