Watchmakers in Chicago

Do any of you guys have any recommendations for a good reliable watchmaker in the Chicagoland area? I have an old 1601 that might need some service. It's running about 10 minutes fast a day. Thanks in advance fellas!

Hey there fellow Chicagoan, the only guys I know of are Howard frum downtown in the Jewelers building. I would look at sending to ABC in Cali or even RSC in either NYC or dallas. Hope that helps. Go Cubs!

Hey there! Thanks for the recommendation. I've been out to Howard Frum a few times in the jeweler's building. They are a good group of guys out there. They don't do their own service. I'd prefer not to have to send it out via mail since it is a sentimental piece. Go Cubs!

You could also try MJ Watch Services who I've seen work on serious complications. Alex and Alex who run this place have been fixing high end watches for along time. 2200 Waukegan Rd, Glenview, IL 60025 (847) 729-7400. Just ask them for a quote before they start working on the watch.

I would NOT trust it with anyone in Chicago except for
Rolex Authorized Service in Chicago (formerly called "Sutter's")
30 N Michigan Ave
Ste 601
Chicago, IL 60602.

They do better work than RSC in many cases, because you get a very experienced watchmaker and not some rookie that you can draw from an RSC. But, they can be a bit bitchy. They can do that because they're good. It's worth playing along with them though.

Nonauthorized places will put non-Rolex parts in your watch and generally mishandle it.

Also from Chicago. I just got my 79090 back from ABC WatchWerks in LA. Nothing but praise for them. I recommend them highly.
