Icon5 Accuracy of 3135 vs 3185 vs 3186

Hi again everyone.

A question for the WIS among you: Is there any substantial difference in accuracy between the cal. 3135, 3185 and 3186?

What acuracy can one expect for these cal. if regulated?

Regards
Bård

The Cal. 3135 is the BASE caliber for the Cals. 3185 + 3186 (and for other Rolex movts. like the Cal. 3155 Day-Date, for that matter).

The Cal. 3186 does have a new hairspring - the Parachrom Bleu hairspring - which is said to be ten times more resistant to shocks than the conventional hairspring and also completely anti-magnetic. However, imho, the conventional hairspring used in the Cals. 3135 + 3185 is tested by time and sure is capable of providing excellent timekeeping results, easily as good as the ones Cal. 3186 would give.

All Rolex movements are COSC tested and should therefore run within COSC specs which are minus 4 to plus seconds.

Well regulated (especially meaning: adjusted to YOUR wearing habits ), however, a Rolex can run much more accurately than what the official COSC specs dictate. You can easily have it adjusted to run about 1 to 2 secs. fast a day.

Any of those calibers should maintain an accuracy of +/- 2 1/2 seconds per day.

Ok. Thanks.

But I am under the impression that the 3186/3185 is more accurate than the 3135?

(Have seen quite a few thread praising the accuracy of the GMT IIc for instance.)

It varies from watch to watch and user to user. The most important thing to me is consistency. If the watch is consistent in it's rate of gain/loss it's accurate. Just might need a bit of regulation.

That's not a big deal at all. Railroaders used to have their pocket watches checked frequently and those were some of the most accurate pieces to come down the pike---seconds per MONTH.
