If I buy from DavidSW would Rolex service it?

I know DavidSW is a reputable seller.

My concern is that if I buy a Rolex from him would Dallas RSC service the watch?

Has anyone here sent a DavidSW watch to Rolex for service? Any problems?

Thank you for your help,

ZR

It's a Rolex not a davidsw so ofcourse it'll be serviced under its international guarantee - it's not modified in any way whatsoever modified watches Rolex will service also but return to original Rolex spec and charge you for it also.

I've bought and traded several watches with David. I have not yet serviced a watch through Rolex yet.

I would think his solid reputation and countless transactions speak for itself...

Your statement maybe misleading.
Rolex international warranty does not cover service.

The warranty covers mfg defects.

Once watch is serviced by RSC, Rolex offers warranty for work performed

But, again, international warranty does not cover service

True but any original Rolex bought from anywhere will be serviced by Rolex that's the key point

RSC will service a Rolex watch you found in the gutter as long as it's not reported lost or stolen. It's all revenue to them.

Only RSC has original parts.

There are number of ADs that have Rolex trained watchmakers and that have parts account with Rolex

Independent watchmakers are finding it more difficult to source original parts. This is a general statement and there are exceptions

Bottom line is, RSC is way to go IMHO

All you need for warranty service is the Rolex warranty card. Other service is no problem. I have done several deals with DavidSW with no issues.

4-6 weeks through RSC is actually not bad at all. Rik is a great option as well.
Good thing you're not getting a Patek serviced..

Have not had to use the warranty on a Rolex from a seller here but I did have to use the warranty on VC. Wasn't an issue. As long as the warranty card or passport(VC) is filled out correctly when you get it it's a non issue. The card will be properly filled out if it's from one of the big sellers here.

Rolex will service a watch under warranty or out of warranty as long as it is not modified. I heard if you have the watch modified (e.g. ProHunter) then you will have to look for an independent watchmaker to service the watch.

You are incorrect. Many independents have Rolex parts accounts. They must be CW21 certified to have one. Rik Dietel in Florida is an independent CW21 and only uses Rolex parts. As far as RSC is the way to go, that is purely your opinion. Rik can and has done better work than RSC. I have seen lots of shoddy work from RSC. Do a search here. Over-polished cases, dirt on the dial etc. Before you make ignorant statements you should really do a little homework first!

I purchased my new Sub from DavidSW and then sent it in to the Dallas RSC to replace the cyclops under warranty. RSC required that I include the original warranty card with the watch. The warranty card had my name listed on it. No problems whatsoever.

The only ones that they won't service are the rare frankenwatches he lists (I saw a listing for a stainless sub that was modified to look like a smurf with blue dial and blue bezel, you would need the original parts for that).

Indeed. My watchmaker is all that and with a parts account. He does magic with my watches, especially vintage whereas RSC would destroy the value.

As long as you're willing to pay for the service they will service it. If it has any aftermarket parts they will replace with rolex parts and charge you accordingly.

1. I have purchased from Davd, from Sohail, from Tony, and a couple of other guys here on TRF. I took the one I bought from David to my AD for service. They took it in the back of their shop (to made sure it was authentic), wrote down my contatc data, took my $600.00, and shipped it off to Dallas. No questions about where I bought it or whether I had a receipt or any silliness like that. It came back perfect, inside that green Rolex sleeve along with the usual green Rolex warranty card. ALL GOOD.
2. Just last week, the hour hand on my GMT-II stopped functioning. It's an all-black DLC-coated finish, so -- natch! -- Rolex won't touch it. I took it to Turneau, AND THEY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANY NICER! It's being repaired as I speak. Time to repair, and cost to repair are (unfortunately) no better than Rolex. But at least they'll do it. BTW: Everyone who sees in person my DLC GMT loves it. COME ON, ROLEX!
3. I did not have a good experience with Rik, the gentleman referred-to, above. He installed a green seconds hand (aftermarket, custom made in Germany) and a genuine Rolex green datewheel on my Dateajust. Using a loop, you can see dust particles and what looks like a hair (!) on the face of the watch. Invisible with the naked eye, though. We all have a bad day occasionally, and maybe I'm too demanding. But that's my $0.02.

Are you blind or you just cant read? Before you make retarded statements about ignorence, read the reply i posted

I said there are exceptions to the rule, Rik could be one of them.
I also said that ADs with certified watchmakers have parts accounts.
Plus how how can you generilize that this guy Rik does a better job? What is your standard scorecard and data to back that up??? Complaints on TRF??
Well thats a good sample size to draw a statistical inference about total population
Rick does 1/1000000 volume of what RSC does
Have you ever heard of statistical process control and that process errors can and do occur.

Plus, how do you know where Rik gets his parts?? Did he tell you that he gets them directly from Rolex???
Why would ROlex sell parts to independent watchmakers?? So they can take business away from RSC???
That would be brilliant strategy
I had RSC service done three times. It was flawless and i know everything was done with highest standards and original parts. I eliminated any doubt.
