When did Rolex change the fitting of WG Daytona bezels?
I have been working with Titan Black for quite some time now to get my white gold Daytona 116509 M series from 2009 fitted with an OEM Rolex White Gold DLC bezel as pictured.
As my watch is a few years old they couldn't get the engravings painted on the original bezel once the DLC was added due to it being previously serviced and polished by RSC. I therefore purchased a brand new OEM white gold bezel from a dealer and sent it off to Titan Black, this is the one that has now been DLC coated and painted above. They have finally gone to fit it but have discovered it is in fact a brand new bezel but from an earlier white gold Daytona 116509 and as such whilst they can get it to fit, it will not pass the water resistance test. Does anybody know if Rolex changed the fitting on the bezels not long after they came out to stop people fitting white gold bezels to stainless steel 116520 models? And on this assumption, would this DLC white gold bezel now fit a brand new stainless steel 116520 Daytona? Any accurate help here would be gratefully appreciated.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. I know that feeling of getting parts that don't quite work. Good luck, hopefully you'll get some help soon.

So, if they put the old bezel on, it passes pressure? Just trying to eliminate options. "Hopefully", it is something else and not that sweet looking bezel.

Gutted for you mate!
There are two variations I'm sure I discussed it with you over PM when I looked into the WG bezel on a SS Daytona Here's some info http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=378048 I've got more from a PM conversation between myself and Dalton. The main reason I never fitted a WG bezel to my SS Daytona |

My watch is actually a full White Gold 116509 not a stainless steel model. The problem is the new bezel I sourced is new old stock from circa 2005. It appears Rolex slightly changed the fitting to prevent the WG bezels being fired to SS models. In theory, this bezel should therefore fit a brand new random serial 116520 steel model.

Hi Yes it passed the test without issues on the original bezel.

Apparently the WG on strap still uses the older design fitment. |
