Submariner Size question!
Hello. I have a fairly small wrist and currently wear a SS Datejust. I really love the classic style of the Submariner. The current model of the sub seems a little large on my wrist. I know that the diameter has stayed the same over time, but does anyone have recommendations for a reference number of past models when the overall case was slightly smaller?
Any help is appreciated! |

Any past model with 5 digits are pre-supercase. Look at the Classified section here. There has to be a place in Austin that sells pre-owned, should be easy enough to fine one to try on in person.

Welcome. They get smaller when you go back in time. Depending on the case, much more expensive as well. However, for a small wrist the new one is the best in terms of adjustment IMHO 'cause you have more removable links at 6 o'clock. Cheers

Anything before the super cases. Which is the current model. You should check out the sub 16800. They have a slimmer case than the new models, great price, I'll be vintage soon so you'll be getting it before the price goes up once it becomes vintage.

Try the new ceramic one on your wrist a few times, it really does not wear big imho.

Be careful, the sub C seems too large on your wrist compared to a datejust. If you could wear a sub C for one month and return to your watch, maybe you would say hey, it's too small
Honestly, I don't see a great difference on my wrist between 5 or 6 digits references. My ex 14060M My 116610 LN And as FTX I said it, the adjustment is so perfect, the sub C is really more comfortable for me. So try it and try it again |

~6.25" wrist
I always felt Subs were too big for me, but when I tried a new SubC it began the process of changing my opinion. Now I love the way it looks and feels on my wrist, and it sits down perfectly inside the head of the ulna in that little pocket there, imo... When I look around at relative size of other watches on men's wrists these days, my Sub looks downright small in comparison. |

Buy a new reference GMT instead. The lug size and fit around the wrist make it an excellent choice for smaller wrists.

I have small wrists (6 1/4) and own 2 Tudor Submariners model 75090 (one black and one blue). I wore modern GMT's and Expy II's. When I found the mid size subs I mentioned, Wow! Love them. Comfy and good time-keepers. Many Tudor fans here. Yes, detractors as well.
Just my thoughts.

search around for the 16610, the 16800, and as mentioned, the 14060.

I too have small wrists, about 6 1/4 inches, but I comfortably wear a SubC. I was warned that older Sub models might not have enough removable links to accommodate my small wrist so I bought a SubC and have been very happy with it. There's one half-link in the SubC bracelet that can be moved from one side of the clasp to the other, giving additional flexibility when sizing. I was able to get the long SubC clasp well centered on the bottom of my wrist by shifting the position of the half-link.
