Small changes on the ceramic Sub clasp.

Hi folks,

Seems the most recent Subs glide-lock clasps do not have the brushed finish on the inner part of the clasp where the Rolex logo is.

It is now all polished. When did that change?

Cheers,
George

For timing the change, first ones I got from AD with the new polished clasp were in July.

I believe this was first posted in July of this year and here's the link to that thread but of course, I could be wrong.

5th July 2015 Hulk, polished. (and green tag obviously, the seal has got nothing to do with when watch was produced)

Yes, all polished apparently is the latest style. I quite like the brushed, but not a big deal.

Rolex must have phased the old out and the trickle down is still working its way through the distribution system.

It seems like I recalled some complaints about the Glidelock having issues of some kind when researching my purchase(over 2 years), but was assured it wasn't an issue. Perhaps the polished part indicates Rolex's solution to whatever issues there were...?

DSSD - Polished (Oct)

I liked the looked of the sandblasted finish when brand new....but got uglier as time went on.....the polished ones will basically always look the same

i dont think there is an issue but the matte finish traps the crap out of lint and fabric. it is also rough on the hands. not that any of it matters but probably why they changed it out.

I really like this sandblasted finish but I just see it twice a day when I put on / take off my watch so not very important.
Uglier with time, not sure.

Two years old for mine, always nice no ?

Not just this clasp. The Milgauss clasp section that locks in when folded & that you flick with your finger nail to open now appears to be either solid or spring loaded & not just slightly loose like older versions. This is my second Milgauss & was the first thing I noticed.

Nice silent *upgrade* Rolex.

You lost me please explain.

The sandblast finish is on inside of clasp and never touches skin nor does it trap lint or fabric. How could one piece on inside of clasp do either? The outside of clasp isn't sandblasted.

I bought my SubC from the AD in September. Straight out of the coffin. Old style. Looked at the LV they got in last month and it was the new style.

If you clean your watch and dry it with a cloth or paper towel etc. I often dry mine off after a rinse in water.

Might be Rolex decided to make the bead blasted finish glossy smooth just like the Gold Subs and other P.M. models. My Hulk purchased April 2014 new has the bead blasted inner clasp blade. I see no problem either way!

Much prefer the sandblasted finish but it's not a deal breaker

Polished or sand blasted

Great just another item for the OCD buyers to look for.

My 2013 Explorer II 42MM is sandblasted/brushed finish inside the clasp. I kinda like it vs the polished.
