Just purchased a new GMT IIc SS
hi all,
I recently purchased a new GMT II c SS watch and from my first impressions it is a little different than the typical Rolex one has known and come to love and admire..hopefully it will grow on me.. I have an SS 2007 Sub and I always end up comparing the GMT II to the Sub..and the Sub always seems to win.. but yes, the new GMT IIc does feel solid and really well done..just a little different from the regular ones. Just wondering if anyone has tried to get the band center links polished to a brush finish like the Sub. If someone has, is there any downside to doing that? Your insight would definitely help.. excuse the quality of the pic..not comparable to some to the execellent ones I have seen on the forum. have a great weekend all.. |

Well in my opinion i really like the polished centre links ( i know others don't) but that is part of the reason i chose that over a sub.
But everyone is different, personally i wouldn't brush them but i know some people have. P.S by my standards thats an outstanding photo

I've got the GMTIIc and love the polished center links but I can understand wanting the brushed look. There was a thread about a month ago where someone detailed how they brushed their center links. I think you might be able to search for the thread. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I think that those two watches are completely different looks.. They are the same color, of course, but you can't confuse them either.

I have the TT version of the GMT and the same Sub that you have. I love the GMT and it is my favorite watch. I also like the Submariner. I would not brush the links but it's your watch so yours to do with as you please. Maybe you should give it a few weeks and then make a decision. It sounds like you have not gotten used to it yet.

you are right Terry..i should give it a few weeks and let it grow on me and see how I feel after that..I think I am already beginning to like the solid feel when compared to the Sub and this is just my second day owning it..
cheers |

Just wear it daily and it WILL 'brush' itself.

I've had mine for almost a week and wear it everyday and I like it! :) This is the first stainless watch for me so the color keeps catching my eye. I also very much like the polished center link. It gives the watch a little zip and differentiates it from the 'other' Rolex's (except the YM) and expecially from all the other run of the mill stainless watches out there.
My YG Daytona has been sitting lonely in the winder.

Congrats on your new GMT llc
just my opinion but it sounds like your trying to make your new amazing gmt look like your sub, I would wait and also find out what it cost to have brushed links returned to a high polish.... Either way, great collection you have.:thumbsup |

Congrats on the new GMT IIc. I just picked mine up yesterday. I like it better than my Stainless/Platinum Yachtmaster.

Lots of posts on this modification, but since you have it on the Sub, keep the PCL's for more dressy occasions! Nice watch from fellow GMT IIc owner.
