Has anyone seen the earlier editions of The Rolex Report (by author J. Brozek)

The now outdated and long-out-of-print "The Rolex Report" monograph by John Brozek (Revised and Expanded 4th Edition, InfoQuest Publishing 2002) has over the years since publication received critical acclaim for its need-to-know info about collecting, purchasing and selling a Rolex. (InfoQuest's website says "This book is currently out of print. Please look for The Rolex Report, 5th Edition in the Spring of 2016.")

However, does anyone own, or has anyone ever seen, the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Edition of this book? I have been unable to locate any references to these prior editions online, or any evidence that these prior editions even existed (which surely they must have!). Your feedback in this regard is appreciated.

My bad, why don't you ask the author?

Here's his website/contact: http://www.qualitytyme.net/pages/about_us.html

Have tried previously to communicate with him on a different but related subject. No reply, so no point going down that road again.

If I remember I'll look when I get home later or tomorrow. I did have one before. Not sure if I still do.

With respect, may I ask why you seek the earlier editions? Are you collecting them or do you feel there is information not found in the latest edition? Even the edition I bought in 2009 doesn't have the latest anti-counterfeiting features Rolex has incorporated or the latest designs.

The edition you purchased in 2009 would likely be the 4th Edition, which was the last one published and, as mentioned in the original post, is quite out-of-date. The question remains whether anyone has seen the 1st, 2nd or 3rd editions (although TRF member "mailman" indicated above that he'll be checking into this).

The earlier editions were much shorter. Good backstory here: http://thinkofthat.net/2011/09/16/tyming-is-everything/

I don't know about the earlier editions, but I am waiting for the latest edition (previously due in 2015, now evidently due in 2016).

I guess I have the first edition, it says nothing about that. It's just a bunch of printed plain white papers and a staple.

Maybe it's from 2000 because the serial ends at 1999.

I hope it helps.

Thanks Blue Lantern. Not only is the backstory a wonderful read; it answers my original question. It now appears that the first three editions of The Rolex Report were very brief primers, with the 4th Edition being the first fully expanded work on the subject. That might explain why the predecessors to the 4th Edition seem nowhere to be found, although they're probably out there somewhere.

Yes, that certainly does help, and it is entirely consistent with my response to Blue Lantern a few minutes ago. I think the mystery surrounding the 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions, is now solved! Thanks for your input.

I think I have an extra earlier addition laying around, if you are interested.

InfoQuest's website now states that the 5th Edition will be available Spring 2016.

Jocke,

Talk about a Blast from the Past!! LOL Thanks for sharing. That would have been from around 1999. Here's a copy of the 3rd Edition which was from early 2002, just before we published the 4th edition.

Haven't been spending much time on the forums for a while now. We stay quite busy. QualityTyme.net

I also do most of the IWJG & WWT shows, and InstaGram: therolexreport

We also service around 300+ watches per year.

Have been trying to finish the 5th edition, but having a hard time finding someone suitable to do the layout. I did the previous editions myself and don't have time to learn InDesign.

Such is life...
