Rolex GMT-Master II BLNR Or Daytona SS 116520
I am on the verge of getting myself a Rolex GMT-Master ii BLNR watch next month. Actually, to be more exact, I am 80% sure of getting one as I am still kinda debating between getting the BLNR or a Rolex Daytona stainless steel watch, which is the other 20%. You see, at first, I wanted to get the Daytona SS so that I can have each version of them in SS, TT, YG as I already have the Daytona in TT and YG already. Both of them with the Rolex Modified El Primero Zenith movements. Anyway, when I saw the Rolex GMT-Master II BLNR, I suddenly got struck by it that all of a sudden, it came to the equation of me either getting it or the Rolex Daytona SS. At first, it was a 50-50 tie between the BLNR or the Daytona SS but as time goes by, I seem to be leaning towards the former. I know that the Daytona is more of an icon and has more history to it but there is something with the BLNR, which I cannot explain that draws me to it. Also, one thing going for the BLNR is that I feel that I can see the time much easier that I would with the Daytona as it's dial is somewhat more legible. For your information, I am 55 years old already and my vision isn't anymore as good as when I was younger that I need glasses nowadays to read. I might be wrong but it also seems that the BLNR is more rugged and is a bit better everyday watch. My question to you guys out there, do you think that I would be making the right decision if ever I choose the BLNR over the Daytona in spite of the latter's history? Or it would be better to have a Daytona in 3 versions, SS, TT and YG? The last 2, I already have. If you were in my shoes, what would you most likely choose between the BLNR and Daytona?Another information, aside from owning a TT and YG Daytona, I also have DD I, Submariner TT Blue and GMT i SS Pepsi Rolexes.
THANKS. PS. By the way, if ever I would have to go the Rolex Daytona SS way, I would have to get it second hand because my budget can only go as far as a brand new Rolex GMT-Master 2 BLNR because here in the Philippines, a brand new Rolex Daytona SS is at least 100k+( Philippine Currency) more expensive than a BLNR. A second hand Daytona SS would cost 20K more than a brand new BLNR. |

It sounds to me like you'd be making the right decision to get a BLNR. Cost and the fact you already have two Daytona's, would make me lean towards the BLNR. I've had mine for about 5 weeks and love it. I have a DJ, Yachtmaster, and a Seamaster Master Co-Axial and they have hardly been on since I got this watch.
I'm 52 and I understand the declining vision problem. The BLNR is easy to read and the lume is great at night. Ultimately, only you can decide but, in your situation, I would choose the BLNR. Good luck!!

I own both and I wear my BLNR most all the time. I'm 45 and can't really read the Daytona plus no date. I would get the BLNR. It is by far my favorite. If months go by and you don't like it (I doubt that will happen) you can sell it easy and get most of your money back. You already own two sweet Daytonas. Go BLNR.

Congrats in advance!
BLNR is the one for me. Even if the cost was equal. |

Greetings. I'm also from Manila and I love your problem. For me if it'll be your first or only watch, ill get the Daytona in white dial. ..(I had both and white is more legible).
But considering your present collection, I'll go for the BLNR. Good luck. |

I own and love both but if I could only own one modern Rolex it would be my BLNR.

You already have 2 Daytonas?
If I were you I would flip the TT Daytona, get the SS Daytona and the BLNR. I wear the BLNR more often than the Daytona but love them both. |

Head to head, I'd go with the Daytona. Given that you already have two Daytonas, lucky dog, I'd go with the BLNR.

I sold my Daytona and bought a BLNR and have no regrets. Excellent legibility, day and night as well as a splash of blue!

I'd dump the Two-Tone and Yellow-Gold Daytona's and get TWO Stainless-Steel Daytona's.....one white, one black....
If there is money left over, get the Blue-on-Black GMT-Master-II |

I do not own a BLNR but I own a 116520 Daytona Black Dial. If I don't have both my 1st choice is the daytona. But given your present collection I would go BLNR

But hey when is a Ceramic SS Daytona coming out is anybody's guess. And life is too short to wait. get the 116520 now and can flip later if the new ceramic SS Daytona comes out (if any) |
