Customers can't stop looking...

So last week I purchased my first Rolex, I'm a finance manager at a high volume Ford store, while presenting my product menu to my customer the ladies eyes are literally following my left wrist while I'm talking keep in mind I'm half Italian and communicate with my hands so her head was really moving. It dawns on me she is eye banging my watch, it made me a little uncomfortable like "what is she thinking right now" all went well they bought a few products and on their way but I'm concerned this watch may send the wrong message. Most of our customers have good income and credit and own nice watches but of course some are younger and less affluent. I stayed away from the Submariner because I wanted to avoid the traditional Rolex look synonyms with managers at car dealerships and went with the Yacht master, I guess the Platinum bezel is a bigger eye catcher than I thought it would be, I almost wore my Tag Link today instead but it feels like a piece of crap after wearing the Yacht for a week. Safe to say many of you guys have experienced this?

If it makes you uncomfortable where it under your sleeve. My job requires long sleeves so I don't have this issue. Out in the world though I rarely see anyone notice my sub.

I found myself keeping it under my sleeve for good measure.

Be sure no one notices your watch. Beside no one cares (it doesn't tell anything at all about you).
On top of that you need to be a true WIS to identify your watch as a Rolex.

And if you have a WIS as a potential customer it's all good ;-)

So wear it as if you don't care, and no one will care.

If you feel nervous and move to keep it under your sleeve people will notice it even more.

It could be different with a YG DD with diamond bezel.

Yeah I think more of a TT Datejust when I think "car salesman's Rolex", which is a great watch, just what I picture. I don't picture the sub as much, and I definitely don't think of the YM.

I think you made a good call and IMO don't think a little watch admiration should discourage you professionally, but if it makes you feel uncomfortable than under the sleeve it should go I suppose, but it'd be a shame to hide such beauty!

Move the YM to your right wrist. If the ladies still follow your (now bare) left wrist during the presentation then you know that there is something magical about your left wrist.

I've run into similar situations. The YM with the Blue Dial tends to do that. It'll fly under the radar, but once noticed, people tend to stare at it for a while.

The mix of the Platinum bezel, Blue Maxi dial, and Red Seconds hand is very unique.

I'd be really surprised if she knew what it was, however, it does seem she found the watch appealing.

When I had my old 07' SD, I was standing in line with co-workers waiting for coffee at a coffee shop. I was talking to my friends and a nice looking chick standing behind me was craning her neck and tilting her head at a 90 degree angle as she was trying to see what it was I was wearing.

Hard to say if these girls know what it is they are looking at.

On another occasion about 4 years ago I was at a Korean restaurant having a Bim-bam bowl of rice and there was a group of 3 people sitting next to me on my lefthand side. I was alone reading a newspaper waiting for my food. I was wearing my DSSD this time and I was wearing a Polo golf t-shirt. The party was chatting loudly next to me. I wasn't paying attention to their conversation, but they were rather loud. All of a sudden, the whole table hushed up. This caught me off guard as it was noticeable, so from the corner of my eye I looked left from my newspaper and noticed the one chick sitting at the table next to me nod at her 2 male friends, whisper something across the table, and the two dudes glance over at me. Wasn't sure what was going on and was thinking about it for a while. I came to the conclusion the chick saw my watch, knew what it was (probably thought it a Sub) and signalled to her friends.

wow, this threat.... wow.

sub is a car dealer watch? News to me. noticeable? News to me. In a year i had my ND not a single person noticed it or commented on it. Ever.

You have a blue dial eye catching watch and you wanted to stay under the radar? As someone pointed out, this is strange.

I work for the world's largest volume Lexus dealership and I am just a Salesman. I was worried that wearing a two tone sub everyday might hurt my sales (I work in the preowned department). If anything I'm selling more cars than ever before with a lot less mini deals

Have to agree unless you look and wear permanent Rolex blinkered glasses.

Its totally irrelevant as you are thinking too much about it. A customer can come into your car dealership, buy a new car and its value goes down by $10000 as soon as he drives it out. You have a $10000 plus wrist watch which in 5 years will still be worth $10000 plus, whereas his $40000 car is now worth around $5000. He likes cars, you like watches. I wear my white gold daytona all day every day and i'm certainly never embarrassed to wear it and im a financial adviser.

There's 2 things women notice first before anything. Your shoes and your watch. You may not think so, but I'm telling its a thing ALL women, and most men look at first.

Think about it. What's the first thing you look at when you look at a guy? Wouldn't you notice a guy wearing dirty shoes, or really nice shoes first?

Same with a watch.

I think it looks fine. My service writer at the BMW dealership is a WIS and always sports a Rolex. At least we have other things to talk about besides the upcoming service.

Maybe try talking without your hands to see if people still notice it. You're inadvertently inviting people to look at your wrist when moving your hands around...especially if there's something shiny on it.

Your fly was down or you were reading your newspaper upside down?
Anyways I've been wearing Rolexes for years and I can count on one hand the times anyone notice my watch, may be I'm just not good looking.

It's a striking watch. People are probably just trying to look at it more than determine the brand or if it's authentic.
