Production date purchasing
Greetings
New member here! My wife and I were lucky enough to welcome our first born and I'm contemplating getting her a gift of a Rolex. I didn't know if it was possible, but wondered if I could determine the manufactur date of a Rolex, and if there was any way to buy a watch knowing it was produced on a certain day. Is this information that is given/known when looking at a watch? My date is 11/28/15. |

Welcome to the Forum -
There are many guides that offer a range on production "years" but not down to the day. Here is one such guide: http://www.qualitytyme.net/pages/numbers.html |

Actually, I just noticed you are looking for a 2015 production year. A couple years ago, Rolex began using Random serial numbers. Thus, it will be impossible to tell the year of production. You could be buying a 3-4 year old watch new from the store..

Sadly that is not possible on Rolex at this point. Perhaps you can buy the model you want for her and just get the date engraved in the caseback?

I'm sure you could find a Rolex that was actually SOLD on that day and have the warranty card with her birth date on it.

Great idea with the warranty card. Thank you.
Also, engraving on the back is what I will do. Thank you. I'll check this post again to see if anyone else has ideas. By the way, is there a thread that explains undated warranty cards? I don't understand why the cards aren't dated from the date of purchase like other products. Last edited by BaronsRolex; 31 January 2016 at 10:47 PM.. Reason: Added follow up question |

A valid warranty card would be dated. A Grey Market import without valid warranty may be undated..

even if rolex were willing to date their watches im not sure what relevance this would have
each part is made in huge batches and then the watch is assembled then it could be left for several months before final finishing is completed then left several more weeks before something else etc etc its not like a handmade item that a single person works on one at a time
