There are a number of Authorized dealers in Vancouver but no Rolex exclusive stores

You guys are too funny.

Believe it or not, I heard about this from my AD contact last November. It is a shame that the AD I use did not get the license for the boutique.

Yeah it's a shame Eric, my AD got the boutique and really a cool upgrade!

Yeah, heard this from someone a while back also who was working on the architecture.

Eric, do you have your personal invite yet?!?

Let's try and snag a pre-public opening private tour.

I wonder what this means for all the AD's in town???

I'm sure this takes away from their sales that may already be soft.

Won't clients want to go to the boutique first?

Won't the company boutique have first choice in stock?

This doesn't look good for the dealers.

I think Rolex smartened up and said hold on... we want to make the profits direct rather than use the AD's.

My guess is some AD's will drop the line.

Too bad for us consumers. We lose out.

I assume the boutique will be run by one of the existing ADs so I doubt much impact on the local market.

Boutiques are ventures between AD and Rolex, this is why the AD name can be seen in it (Mayors, D&D, etc). They do have a larger selection BUT can ONLY sell full retail. Period. Any discount, they loose the AD status. Local AD's still get a great selection and can work with repetitive customers.

I did not know there was such a sharp distinction between an AD and a "boutiques". To me, Rolex boutiques seem like Rolex marketing to attract customers.

Rolex only owns one retail store and it is a fairly small, non-descript store in Geneva. It is smaller than other Rolex ADs in Geneva, but the staff are really knowledgeable as you can expect from a Rolex-owned store.

As mentioned, all the the other boutiques appear to be joint ventures between the AD and Rolex. I have visited many Rolex "boutiques" that were open to discounts, but they were located in Europe/Asia. So I am not sure if the "ONLY sell full retail" is limited to North American boutiques.

I know, Tom. Boutique or not, my business will always go to my AD contact. Bought from him for twelve years now and have no intention on going anywhere.

Will still check out the boutique when it opens.

I usually stay at the Pan Pacific but may have to book the Shangri-La at least once now.

Apparently the boutique was scheduled to be opened yesterday, September 30th. Not sure if that has happened or not. Will try to check it out this weekend.

Sorry guys, I may not be the first in line.
