Correct Box set?
I just purchased a 1977 model 6694 which doesnt have its original box. I would like to add one to it. Which model box would it have come in for that year?

Someone helped me out recently with the data below, I believe your box would be

Does that list say that the 06.00.06 was only used up to 1971 and then switched to the 10.00.01 until 1987? Its confusing. Im asking because this 1984 doesnt look like its using a 10.00.01 box. The insert looks more like the insert used in the 06.00.06 with a newer outer box

Boxes are shipped separately from the watch and Dealers grab one to put it in if the customer desires a box. Something done more today than a couple of decades ago when you wore your new watch out-the-door..

Correct Box set?
Ive been sitting on Google now for about the last 2 hours and it seems that those 6694's which show pictures with a box are either from early to mid 1960's with a few early 1970's sprinkled in or early to mid 1980's. I did find a 1977 6694 but it looks like the exterior of a 10.00.01 but the interior insert of the 06.00.06. More searching ahead. I think Tools is correct to say that it could be either one or whichever box was picked up at the dealer that day.

Outside the USA, it would be the moonscape box with the slotted card to hold the watch. Serial number from 1977 indicates to me that it was probably sold around 1980.
The box is easy to find and the outer box has craters on it...like Moon craters.

I've owned two that came with the original box. Small green striped like this one:

One was a 75 and the other a 74, by serial production year (3.9 / 4.2ish). The boxes also had the 6694 sticker on the side.
Understand there are different green stripe boxes, which were available in the 1960's for the sport models. Take a look closely at the one I copied on my post. This is the smaller box and has the watch clamp inside. |
