Insert question
Just wondering if one of you knowledgable folks can tell me what kind of insert this is?
Thanks. |

Probably (likely) a thin MK3 from the late 70s but your photo is dark and obscures the best tell which is the 40.
Take a better photo of the 40 and 50 - not upside down - and with more light please

Ill take a better picture this afternoon.
This insert came on a 1680 from around 79 and RSC said it was original but I didn't ask them which designation it is. I have a mrk3 that is currently on that sub but it's much thicker. Just curious. Thanks for the Info. |

It is a almost as thin a Mk3 as you will find, but it is a MK3, not a service insert.
The designation MK3, is something from the minds of collectors, not part of any official naming convention from Rolex. There is even a lot of looseness in the designations being used.
