BLNR resale value question :)

It seems that the resale value on the BLNR is second to none right now. Do we expect this trend to continue like the SS Daytona. Or is it likely to fade with time down to a level similar to the black sub/GMT watches. Any insight on this matter would be helpful.

Agree with Jeff. Just a guess.

However, imho, the Daytona was strategically held back at certain points to create more demand.

The blnr is readily available. I personally don't think it will be even close to the hype that surrounded the Daytona.

Its super hot hot in Australia, so hot that you would have to wait 2 years if buying at the AD. Buying a used one would command retail price ...

With the weak Aussie Dollar, it sees all the Rolex SS watches are hard to find in Australia, because all the tourists want to buy them while visiting Australia, LOL!

I would suspect if a new GMT variance is released this year that may change quickly. However, it is still an incredible watch!!!!

Before Baselworld in each year after 2013 (BLNR launch year), full of rumors about GMT updates (wishlists) were widespread in many TRF threads and other watch forums as follows:

Before 2014 Baselworld - rumor: SS Pepsi-C;
Result: WG Pepsi-C.

Before 2015 Beselworld - rumor: SS Coke-C (and rootbeer..);
Result: nothing.

Before 2016 Beselworld - rumor: SS Blueberry C (and SS Coke-C, rootbeer,..);
Result: wait and see.

Was hype for the BLNR the same for the HULK? I am wondering if this is typical of new rolex models.

I don't get the blueberry rumors. Rolex ain't omega, why would they get in the way of a good thing so soon after success on blnr.

If the BLNR is indeed discontinued this year (not at all certain, but it has been suggested as a possibility) then I'd assume you could expect resale to hold quite nicely.

If it were discontinued this year, then I will kick myself for not putting it on my short list sooner.

That would be my thoughts as well. But Phillipp posted some very interesting pictures that looked quite corporate. They included every GMT reference and had a Blueberry but no BLNR. One thing I've learned is to never bet on what Rolex might do. It would seem a strange thing to do given the BLNR is such a hit. But think about this - if the Blueberry does well in it's place then Rolex hasn't lost any revenue at all. And on top of that people will probably be fighting over the new model figuring there is potential that it too might become a short run "collectible" in a couple of years. It wouldn't surprise me if the MSRP of a new Blueberry reference was more than the BLNR either. That would be very clever.

Frankly I don't see them discontinuing the BLNR either, but I certainly wouldn't want to bet the mortgage payment on it.

This one. And Phillipp is very rarely wrong, but not saying there isn't another page to this.

They won't discontinue the BLNR. It's hot as fire. Some regions have a waiting list. Now if they come back with a Coke!!!

As hot as the BLNR is, there certainly is not shortage of them being flipped in the pre-owned market. Seems many people buy and flip it within a year or so afterwards.

Its always a gamble, since now rolex makes million watches a year I doubt they ever be rare and sought after in future. Buy the watch you like not for other people.

SS Coke will put the blnr in LN territory - not likely, but it would be nice to see the pengilum swing to a different model in 16', blnr has gone full
Rolex wis cycle, early stage hate of the blue hue to mass appeal, graduating to hulk status - what is next Rolex?
