GMT IIc 116710LN: crown positions fuzzy?

I bought my GMT IIc 116710LN new from an AD in November. I've only had to reset the time / time zone / date about six times, but every time I do I find it tough to discern between the three crown positions.

I had a mechanical watch with an ETA movement for years (Chanel J12) and when I adjusted that one the crown positions were clear as day. "Pop - pop - pop." 1-2-3. Super clear.

The 116710LN though always keeps me guessing. Am I winding right now or am I about to change the jump-hour hand? I pull out what I think is all the way. The second hand stops. I start to turn the crown, however, and the second hand starts going again and the hour hand jumps instead.

Do you guys have the same experience or do I need to just be more sensitive to the feedback the crown gives me?

Thanks guys.

I find pulling the crown out on mine to hack the movement can be tricky.

It's almost like it doesn't want to make that last click to that final position.

Purchased mine new Dec 2015 and its same as yours. The other crown positions seem fine and I'm thinking its maybe just still tight being a new movement.

It hasn't bothered me in all honesty. I've got ETA movement watches also, some pop nicely, others don't?

I've noticed the same thing on both of my GMT's. That final position to hack the movement is finicky and sometimes needs a little extra tug to get there. Happens on my 2000 A-Serial 16710 and my BLNR

For me, I turn the crown slightly while pulling it out to the hacking position, it works perfectly every time.

It can be tricky sometimes but a tiny turn and try again seems to work perfectly to get everything in mesh.

I have the same problem. I'll have to try the 'turn' trick. Thanks.

both my 16710 and 116710n can be finicky at times and act as you describe. the turn trick seems to work more often then not. it's my only gripe with the gmts. Never-the-less, I still love them.

I suppose perhaps it's designed to make it less likely you will stop the movement unless you are deliberately trying to do so, particularly on the GMT where it is assumed you will often be jumping the hour hand.

That makes sense.

Just a thought, but who knows? Even a broken watch is right twice a day.

I concur. Seems logical.
