20 year journey,Finally got my grail today!

I have had 3 subs and 3 GMTs over the years plus a Tudor sub. Some were in steel, some 2 tone but none ever scratched the itch.Nice watches yes,but never really what I hankered after. My grail was forever out of reach, until the events of this week.
I dare say fate seemed to have had a big part in events.Firstly,I arranged to take a weeks holiday as we have are having a short term 'lull' at work.Suggested on Monday to the wife that we take a trip out for lunch.Called in at the local AD just to browse at a few models.I was toying with either trading my BLNR up for a two tone or possibly adding one. When we had nearly a table covered with watches, the sales chap mentioned they had an 18ct sub in.I thought I will have a look as this has always been my grail piece since I have been seriously into watches. He then told me they had sold it originally to the owner and had just taken it in PX for a Skydweller.I don't like taking figures on here, but a 2011 116618 LB with box and papers with the piece of mind of buying from an AD and 12 month warranty for less than anything currently on Chrono 24!
Now I went away saying the timing wasn't right,we have just moved house, however I knew I could let that slip through my hands. The BLNR had to be PX as I couldn't raise the full amount, but now I have finally the watch I always really wanted, but had been out of reach until now

Kind Regards

Nigel

A Big Congrat's! So it's true that good things are worth waiting for...

She's got some heft baby... yeah!!

Now does that only come with the Sunburst Dial or the Smurf dial as well...?

Thanks a lot guys.I am in the minority here, but I actually prefer this dial to the sunburst. It has been said as being the 'flat' blue however the dial and bezel adopt many different shades of blue in unison depending on the lighting. At one stage almost black in appearance, very much like the blue ceramic on the BLNR bezel.
As regards heft, yes same weight as a DSSD but distributed differently.Already don't notice it just with a few hours of wearing.

Kind Regards

Nigel

Great to get your grail...I wonder if a new grail will come to surface in due time. You may not think so right now but don't be surprised if it does

Was clearly destined to be your watch. Good that you caught the scent and correctly acted on it.

A hearty well done, Sir.

Thanks again, wondered when someone would mention the next Grail,LOL.Honestly can see it happening, not for now anyway. If I had won the lottery, this would still be the one,Yes I can appreciate the likes of PP,AP and even further along the likes of Grubels Forsey for their horological marvel, but the style of their watches just isn't me.
In the future I may start at the beginning again adding pieces, not trading,a five digit Sea Dweller appeals for what it represents, certainly can't afford anything with Comex on the dial though,That is for me,lottery winning stuff.

Kind Regards

Nigel
