Funny story...

Just got back from swimming at the Y... wore my DSSD.

AS I was about to get into the pool, one of the life guards behind me asked me:
' Your gonna swim with that Rolex?"

I told him: " Its rated to 12800 Feet, b$#$h and the pool is what, 12 feet?"...LOL...well..I didnt say the last part...but u gte the point...

heck, whats the use of keeping it in the winder if I can't take it out to get some fresh air from time to time..:)

Maybe he just wanted to hold on to it for you while you swim..

Or worried that it'll take you straight to the bottom.

With the size of the DSSD, he was probably more worried it would anchor you to the bottom of the pool.

I wear my GMT all the time when I go swimming. I even use the bezel to track laps (24 ticks = 24 laps).

And please don't act like that.

Ok, and ACT like what?
There are 3 lanes for swimming, the outer 2 lanes are occupied.
The life guard stand/station is in FRONT of the middle lane.
In order for me to get into the middle lane, i have to stand in front of the guard station to get into the pool.

I don't make any excuses for what I do. I am proud to have worked hard to wear a DSSD. I seldom wear it, maybe once every 2 weeks, and if I d, I do wear it. So...MAYBE I should hide it next time?

and whats rude about putting on my swim cap, and the DSSD get displayed as my hand is over my hair and the DSSD is in plain sight?
maybe I should remove the DSSD, put it down, put on my cap, wear the DSSD back on, and say excuse me for wearing a Rolex?

so now, I would wear a DSSD and MAKE an excuse to hide it?
If your upset, move on and don;'t read my post.
I make no excuses for what I do, and this story was meant to be an humorous anecdote. The life guard wasn't the least bit upset, so why would you be?
maybe if someone drives a Porsche, they should drive with a car cover on, and NOT park it in front of a diner or a mall, because it is Rude ?

anyway, thanks to those who replied earlier and found the meaning of why I posted this...

You're acting like you're superior because you have a Rolex. Or at least that is what you make it sound like. Get off your horse.

"Jumped out at the poor slob" - This is what I'll point out.

This is 100% unnecessary and uncalled for. You are not better than anyone and while your post may have been humorous at first you ruined the fun.

I'm not trying to start an online argument with you but come on, don't be that guy.

Me, Superior?
Wearing a DSSD or Rolex does NOT in any way, make anyone superior over another person. I never implied that. How could that ever be the circumstance?
of all the forum members here, Im probably the worst shmuck ever.

I resent being judged as you do not know me.
The story posted was meant to be humorous, and some people get it, and some people don't. Some will agree, some will don't. I make no apologies for what I posted.

Like I said, some people will read that differently, than other people. The words on the post comes across differently to different people. It was not meant to be offensive. Why would I purposely post an offensive comment? seriously?..:)
and did I ever say I was better than anyone? not really.

and no, i don't aspire" to be that guy"
God knows, Im the most pathetic schmuck in this forum...

Take a step back, you missed your stop. The POINT about YOU being obnoxious is where you called this lifeguard a, in your words "Poor slob". Nobody cares about how you put on your swim cap or which lane you choose to do the backstroke, or anything else you ranted about, just poor form for calling him a poor slob. IF thats not the way you meant it, so be it, but its how it came across.

Rant over... carry on

You say you don't like being judged and your right but it sounded like you were judging the life gard. That was my point, not about what watch you were wearing. Anyway congrats on your watch and have a nice weekend

Wow, OP just doesn't get it, you call someone a poor slob, insinuating he is below you. Jeff, I think everyone reading this thread will feel that you insulted some one who may not be as fortunate as you or any of us for that matter, for having a low wage job and his appearance might have not been as so clean cut as you. No one is asking you to hide your watch, but maybe not be so harsh on others who don't have what you have. This forum is full of very humble people, and it seems the not so humble people really do stand out. I would like to think you just chose some offensive words in error. Enjoy your magnificent DSSD !

Jeff I've done stand up comedy semi- professionally my whole life.
I enjoy TRF very much but these people are WAY too uptight about their stupid Rolexes and Pateks to enjoy life and have a laugh. They dissect anything you post and find SOMETHING to be offended or upset by.
Then the mob mentality ensues. Don't even try to explain or defend your self.
You'll find a manlier audience at a Golden Girls reunion.
