Help needed FRANKEN

Hello all, I am currently sourcing parts for a franken build. Need to know if a Explorer ii 16570 can accommodate a 3135 movement. I know it's sacrilegious but am already chin deep and could really use the help. Not looking to keep the GMT function or the GMT dial. Looking for a franken explorer gmt and sub build. I know the explorer ii can be crossed to gmt bezel, now my question is can explorer ii switched to sub movement. Please hold your sarcasm as I'm only looking for tech advise. Sarcasm will be expected on the actual build post.
Thanks
Wiski2k

I believe it will fit in the case just fine if that is what you're asking...

I am unsure if a sub dial will fit in the GMT case however. They did vary dial diameters amongst differing models.

Good luck!

Was planning on using corresponding 3035 dial. Read on another thread here the bezel swap was done successfully, just not so sure about movement and dial. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I said, the movement will fit but you need to check dial diameters and the recess in the case under the rehaut to be sure it will sit in the recess. If it doesn't, the casing screws won't fall in the ID groove of the case properly and you could damage the case groove or dial.

Uhhmmm ... Not sure! Next week I can measure a EXII dial and compare to a sub dial. I think is possible to fix the movement too.
Need to be with my material and tools.
Just curious, you want to build a sub with the expII case? What will you do with the crown and tube?

That would be great any help would be appreciated. I have a stock seadweller and a stock Tudor sub, always wanted a gmt Pepsi. Like that you can interchange bezels but have no need for a Gmt cause I have a mulhe gmt in the stable. Already purchased a explorer ii case for a decent price and there are no gmt movements available. I can get my hands on a couple of 3135s at the moment hence the sub dial.

Wait what? What are you trying to do man lol!
Can't wait to see it.

The 3135 should fit the case fine as far as I know.

As the previous posts, I have no clue about the dial fitting.

I found this listing on eBay. Here it states it was done with a gmt 16700. Is the 16700 the same case dimension as the 16570.

I found this listing on eBay where someone converted a gmt 16700. Is the 16700 dimensions the same as the 16750. Something tells me it can be done.

Look the pic again... Nearly half mm! could work...
Measure the 16570 dial bed.

Don't have a micrometer. I thought for sure with air seal it would have to be precise.

Coming along, finally wearable. Will get back with all official pieces. I think the head ache was well worth it.

Beaut! Great job. Now I'm lusting after the white Explorer II dial GMT... Could this be done with a Explorer II case and dial with just a bezel swap?

Yes sir, hard to source retaining ring but aftermarket is easy and works great. Bezel was a little pricey, well with it. Aftermarket can also be had but I wanted it all Rolex parts.
