Icon7 My first Rolex

I had been lusting after a new Rolex, the first one I would have owned. You know how that goes. I signed up on the Forum a few days ago, to gather input about how to make a good selection (model, configuration, dealer, new vs. older, etc.)

My original impulse was to get a Datejust; it is so classic, and seemed so well suited to my lifestyle, taste, and (smaller) wrist size. There are so many options to the Datejust, however, which I found to be both wonderful and confounding.

Thanks to the Forum, I learned about the virtues of the GMT-Master II. I have several fine watches from other makers, including several that are suitable for business or formal occasions. I didn't have any watch one could consider more "sporty." Therefore, the GMT-Master II BLNR seemed to be a good choice to fill that gap.

The clincher was the suggestion from Forum members -- and the dealer -- that whatever I choose is likely to be just my first, not my last Rolex. And after seeing how much I like my new GMT, I suspect that is true! I bought a new one and am not looking back. In fact, I'm looking forward to joining the ranks of satisfied Rolex owner.

Well, congratulations sir, and welcome to the forum. What a wonderful piece you have chosen as your first!

Thanks guys. The blue/black bezel is terrific and changes in different lighting, which I hadn't appreciated before. And the watch feels super comfortable on my wrist.
