Does the ROO attract attention?

Just curious to see if people notice your royal oak offshore. Do you get compliments or do people take notice of it?

When I wore the FC, pretty much only employees at watch stores noticed.
A couple of "nice watch" comments from the general public, but the commenters were not familiar with AP.

A fairly large number of friends and colleagues commented that my Baby G looks cool.

i have had a few people notice it but this is due to its assertive size and shape and not because they were familiar with the brand

My FC 44 ... ZERO. A couple guys I know (that like watches) said "very cool" but no idea of what it is.

I assume some would call more attention than others due to materials.

Not really sure why anyone cares whether people compliment them or notice their watch. The size of the population that even knows what an AP is is minuscule.

Most people don't know what it is, but compliment it.
I had one client just say "HOLY F$%K, that's an AP"

Had a friend who claims to know watches asked if it was a diesel watch. The teenager at the checkout counter at bestbuy actually recognized mine. Most people comment far far less than my sub

I was walking across the street (fifth ave and 57th).
A guy walking in the opposite direction stops in his tracks, walks up to me and says.
Is that a Royal Oak? It is beautiful. We then had a nice chat and he said he was a personal trainer and that is his dream watch. He gave me his card. One of my proudest watch moments i must say =)

I think the ROOs are very distinctive and have a lot of presence and so will be noticed altho almost nobody will know what it is.

I think the distinctive look and the finishing can subtly attract attention but highly doubt people know what AP is.

I've had a few people comment and the coversation usually goes something like this...

Them: nice watch!
Me: thank you
Them: what kind is it?
Me: an audemars piguet
Them: a auda-what?
Me: audemars piguet
Them: huh?
Me: an AP
Them: cool (looking a little confused)

I like AP in that the brand can fly under the radar for the most part but the look and quality finishing can still be appreciated by non-wis.

She says she likes my watch, but she wants Steve's AP...

Opening line to one of the biggest tracks being played over here now. Must be thousands of kids singing this everyday with no idea what an AP is.

Agree. My ROO RC's used to get noticed a lot, however no one had a clue who AP were or any idea of the value of the watch.

I think this thread needs a few pics so here we go:

Nope, fact is most people out there don't pay attention to watches. Only those who care will know. I think I had someone a few years back ask about my Panda and someone else ask about my 44RG but not know what it was.

I was out with a buddy who owns that RG model and someone came up and complimented him, "Nice Hublot", and walked away.

My 44RG get some looks, but my 44FC gets no attention at all. The FC only gets compliments when I'm at a watch store. lol..

i can relate to this

then the next time i have this conversation i decide to just say "AP" from the start, and they have to ask what the letters stand for
