Can't decide between ss/wg ss/yg Datejust II watches
Hey guys,
I decided to pick up a DJ II for my 21st, but can't decide what to go for. yg/ss http://www.rolex.com/watches/datejust/m116333-0003.html (the one I'm leaning towards) http://www.rolex.com/watches/datejust/m116333-0001.html wg/ss http://www.rolex.com/watches/datejust/m116334-0007.html http://www.rolex.com/watches/datejust/m116334-0004.html If the DJ II came with this face I'd take it in a heartbeat http://www.rolex.com/watches/datejust/m116233-0220.html All in all, budget isn't too much of an issue, I love them all but am leaning towards this one. this will be my first rolex so I'm wondering : A) Whether to go for white gold or yellow gold. B) Which of the above you prefer / think I should consider. Thanks for your help! |

No wrong decision; choose what you like the most!!! I have fluted bezel (WG) blue stick and I like being able to see the time in the dark so none of yours would be my personal choice but, it's not my monkey and not my circus.

I personally like WG for the weight and it goes with more than yellow gold. My old DJ was TT but now I like single color metal. SS is also good.

The SS/YG with black roman dial (the one you're leaning toward) is the one I chose.

you probably know already but just in case you didn't, may help you decide
the SS / YG version has yellow gold center links, the "SS / WG" version only has a white gold bezel, the center links are polished steel (most people just call it SS)

Since you are leaning towards two tone, why not wait a couple months until the new 41 hits the retailers. You can get it on an Oyster as well.

For my 21st I would choose a SS WG bezel. That is quite the accomplishment!!!! Good luck in your choice, all are winners!!!

Having owned 3 of the 4 models you're deciding among, I would recommend the rhodium two tone. It's very special and looks striking in certain light conditions. The black roman two tone looks better in pictures than in real life because the dial looks almost brown in direct light and it works better at night. The silver diamond dial lacks contrast, but there is a dark rhodium rhodium version that makes up for that.

The one you are leaning toward is killer. Grab it and enjoy I say.
Maybe also consider the SS/YG with black Arabic dial. The numbers are lumed. Always nice to have that I think. |

Yes, the black Roman is the one you are leaning towards and what I meant rhodium two tone is the second YG/SS model you posted which is actually called slate (not rhodium). Sorry.

Personally, I was looking at getting the YG option (the first one you suggested) however, I was reminded of the fact that with the numerals I would struggle to tell the time in poor lighting. For that reason I went with the silver dial with fluted bezel.
