Bought it!! GMTIIc (with pics

On an earlier thread I said was looking at buying my first (and probably only) Rolex on an overseas trip I was about to go on http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=44165 . Well i'm back now and it wasn't a Submariner nor an Explorer II which grabbed my attention but an M series GMTIIc purchased in Dubai. IMO the GMT was a standout above the sub and explorer on all levels. I still can't get over the cheap feel of the sub and explorer bracelets and clasps, the GMT feels worlds apart and has a nice heavy solid feel to it. At first glance it also has the instantly recognisable rolex 'look' like the submariner with the rotating bezel and I love the extra timezone and the ease in which the hours can be put forward and back. The polished centre links (whilst i'm a little worried about scratches) gives it the perfect balance between a sport and a dress watch and makes it appropriate for all occasions. Whilst it is a little more expensive than the other two I'm very happy with it, believe it is money well spent and hope to keep it for many years to come. Was also able to purchase it at a substantial discount to the Aussie price of AUD $8800 mainly due to the strong Aud/Dirham exchange rate which i'm very happy about.

If anyone is travelling through Dubai I recommend you look at Ahmed Seddiqi and Sons in the Mall of the Emirates. They have a seperate boutique which sells only Rolex with a massive range on display. The salespeople are very friendly and helpful. I spent 2-3 hours deciding between the GMT, Sub and Exp which was no problem for them. As a 24 year old I often find it hard for salespeople to take you seriously and give you the attention you need when purchasing something like this. This was not the case at Seddiqi. Gave me plenty of time to thoroughly evaluate all models and gave straight honest answers to all the questions I had.

some pics..

Congrats sounds like a great start to your GMT experience.

Man there is a lot of plastic coming off that watch, you could rival celotape as a tape supplier.

Thanks for the snap shots. The GMT looks awesome. I think Rolex really came through with the goods on this GMTIIC

I second Steve's comments on the watch. A fine time piece.

Thanks all.

Yeah there are a million and one stickers to take off. I still keep finding more every day.. haha. It's keeping excellent time. I've only been tracking it properly for about 20 hours so far but it's still dead spot on. I'll see how it is after a week. What's the best way to store the watch at night to neither lose nor gain any time?? Face down??

Here's a pic from my phone taken on the counter of the AD at time of purchase. (Bezel guard on)

I have to admit I was never a fan of the GMT's, until recently. This black model with that bezel has to be one of the best looking Rolex watches around. It would be my number 2 choice, right after my LV Sub..

Very nice watch and congratulations!!!

Update....

After one week it has lost exactly 7 seconds, so 1 second per day. Got to be happy with that!!!
