GMT Master II or SS GMT IIC????

hi guys,

i really need help to decide...............
i have an AD here in socal holding 2 watches for me. i just can't decide which one i should go for: "coke" bezel GMT II or the new & improved SS GMT II C.
i like the"coke" cos that's pretty much the last of its kind. the new GMT is also very tempting from the price point. since it's new, it'll be here for a long, long time. price will certainly go up .
cld someone pls advise???

thnx,

An AD will hold 2 while you make up your mind?

I like the look of the Black/Red. If it has the new bracelet w/ polished center links and the "Rolex" engraving in the case, that would definitely be my next watch.

Both are great choices...

FYI...

Just check what serial no. the Coke is. If it's a high Z or an M series then you will have the new 3186 movement in it. Just do the wiggle test to be sure.

Good luck and let us know what you get.

Cheers!

Oh and here are a couple of pics to help you decide...

This is a personal choice thing.

I personally prefer the red/black bezel and the tapered end lugs and brushed bracelet.

But there are plenty of folks who like the ceramic bezel, fat (block) case and polished center links..

Beyond that, they're basically the same watch....

Ditto with what Larry said. I'll take the coke anytime. Besides, with production ceased for this model, it'll be harder to find a BNIB piece down the road. Should u fancy the newer 116710LN later, u can always trade-off/sell your 16710A and get the newer model.

I've got both and the red/black bezel wins hands down, especially if it's got the 3186 movement. in fact I'm thinking of selling my GMT IIc as it just doesn't have the same appeal to me as the 16710 does. That said, you'll be happy with either.....and I'd say it's a sign of the times if an AD will hold 2 watches for you.

Ditto.

The GMT II-C does nothing for me. I do not like the supercase and ceramic bezel with the large numbers on it.

The improvements on the GMT IIc do it for me. Don't buy the 16710 because of the hype of the 3186 cal, buy it because you like the watch.

I would go for the older style GMT especially if it were an "M" serial. In the future you would probably be able to get at least what you paid for it in a trade since this is the end of the line for the GMT. If you plan to keep the watch forever and hand it down as a legacy to your children then I would probably buy the GMT IIC since it has all the new upgrades and is a technically better watch....at least that's what Rolex says.

I was in a business meeting yesterday afternoon with my GMTIIc across the table from a GMTcoke. After the meeting, we traded war stories about our watches and both appreciated the other. You can't go wrong with either - pick the one that you like most... but let us know!

Get the coke GMT II, the polished links on the GMT IIC are a deal breaker for me.

The GMT IIC all the way. It's a much superior watch all around. I have it in TT and love it.

It's a matter of personal taste, though.

Try them both on. I was in the same boat a few days ago. I went IIc!

They are new, will be made for awhile and the cost is only going up up up!
