AP trade for one of these two

Hi all,

I'm considering trading my AP 15300 for one of these two watches. Either a 5513 meters first or a Mark III Red Sub. Here is what I know may be issues with these watches.

1) 5513 has a replaced crown, bracelet (1970s), and potentially hands. See pics below.

2) Red Sub has missing pearl, damaged dial, replaced bracelet.

Are these good trades for an AP 15300?

If the reds pearl was still intact i would go with the red. THe broken dial is actually a nice vintage look. So is all the cracks on the bezel.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure if the missing paint significantly decreased the value of the dial. The Red Submariner has had moisture damage which has caused a good amount of the luminous material to deteriorate.

Is either of these options a bad trade for a 15300?

Heck no!

Your AP is amazing...and worth more than either of those.

I'd wait for something nicer.

Damaged dial = hard resale

5513 is nice but I'd imagine your AP is worth more than either

No way for either given the condition they are in.

No way, that dial is bad. The money is in the dial of a red sub.

I would be least bothered about the pearl as the older tritium pearls are not too difficult to find and the watch retains its value even without the pearl..heck you can even find a thick 1680 insert too but that red dial is damaged and you can't do anything about it..IMHO you should stay away from both of these watches

A 15300 for a 5513 MF is a bad trade. A 15300 for a Red Sub would be a good trade.

However both pieces are lacking... It's an easy pass.

The cliche rules of vintage collecting:

Rule 1: Condition
Rule 2: Condition
Rule 3: Condition

PS. I think that same Red Sub has been floating around for years? That thing needs to be retired.

Damaged dial is a no go on this sub. 5513 looks nice.
Check on pricing of yours and theirs before you go ahead

I wouldn't trade for either of those two. There are much better red 1680s out there at the price of a 15300

A partially missing hash mark on a red sub not the end of the world but a huge chip like that is just too much. I would look for a different red sub.

@Tan

We don't know the condition of your 15300, but I can imagine a scenario in which a trade trade for a Red 1680 would be a fair deal. However, like others have said, the 1680 you posted here...uh, no.

Yea, the dial damage on the red is a definite no go. The 5513 looks good to me but probably not up to the AP in value.
