Icon5 Ladies Rolex... Which One?

I have been thinking about a ladies Rolex for my wife. She likes watches and always complains when she forgets to where her watch when out (I would never forget my watch....:) I have not seen may posts from women whom own Rolexes here...:( I would like to know which Rolex would make sense. Not a fancy Rolex either (no dimonds thank you). Say a SS Sub. Does that exsist? Something sporty I guess....yeah that's it.... sporty. Ideas??

Mingo, is your wife the type who likes to wear larger watches?

I'm a woman who has pretty much worn 'men's' models for 10 years. I currently own two 36mm DJs and a Sub Date (see my avatar). Wouldn't wear a 'ladies' watch if you gave it to me.....but that's just my preference. For reference, my wrist is just under 6.5".

A 'ladies' size Sub doesn't exist. The only professional model offered in a ladies size and midsize is the yachtmaster.

I'd recommend taking her to an AD so that she can try on a bunch!

All depends on her wrist and hand size. If you think that the 26 mm DJ's look too small then you have the option of the 31mm mid size. Not keen on large gents watches on ladies writs. Sorry, old fashioned in that way!

IMO I would stick with the classic look, blue face gold indicies on a TT DJ.

As I have learned about gifts for the wife, don't guess.
Make it a special day, lunch somewhere she loves and then drive to a pre-selected AD that allows her to pick the one she wants.
Don't try to guess.....the moment will be what matters.
She'll love that you planned something and made "it" matter!!!

My lady loves her mid size watches. I would say the mid YM blue dial is her favorite, but the Platy would run a close second.

I am not a fan of Rolex's selection for women - have you considered other (more attractive IMO) brands? If it must be a Rolex, I'd say an Exp I, 40MM YM, or SS Daytona.

I was never a fan of any of the Oyster/DJ, and Rolex doesn't make a women's Sub. I have the ladies' size SS/platinum Yachtmaster and love it. I know some women like the mid-size, but the ladies' size is definitely large enough. It is very versatile. I wear it swimming, with casual clothes, with business suits, and with formal gowns.

My girlfriend prefers larger watches on her wrist and infact 90% of my SS white Daytona has seen her wrist. But she really likes the TT GMT IIc or the All Gold 18ct GMT IIc (this is a bit steep).

But for ladies who like larger watches the TT GMT IIc is awesome in my opinion!

My First and only Rolex, Midsize DJ black diamond dial, I know you said no diamonds, but this particular watch is sporty and elegant at the same time, and goes with anything. I must say that I also love the Midsize Platinum Yacht-Master, if I could, I would go out and buy that one too, just exudes class, sophistication, nobility and an understated elegance. I think the most important thing is that your wife gets the watch that she wants. I tried on many before I settled on the one I bought, at first I thought I'd get a MOP dial, but when I tried it on, it didn't look so go on me, I never thought I would get a black dial with diamonds, but it looked great on my wrist ( knew I wanted a DJ with Jubilee band tough).
Take your wife to an AD and let her try on as many as she wants, it'll be fun for you too!
Good luck, and all the best!
Leigh

Very nice, Leigh. And a style that can take you from jeans to a fancy dinner.

Here's my workhorse - I'm strictly a jeans and t shirts gal and I'm hard on my watches. This is the 34mm Date. I wear out this picture but some of the newer folks probably haven't seen it.

But I agree - take your wife to your jeweler and try on lots of watches. She'll know what she likes!
