14060m clasp problems

As commonly known the clasps on these tend to be cheap feeling. I happen to love mine and this watch, but often the clasp hangs down about a half inch and gets Caught on things and it is so frustrating. If it gets caught hard enough it will completely undo the divers extension and the watch can fall off my wrist in the matter of a second.

This issue makes me want to dump it and get the 114060 but I just don't want to let this watch go for a multitude of reasons. I like other bands and straps but wear it on the oyster 99% of the time. I've taken a link out and set the clasp on the tightest setting which helps but the watch is then slightly too tight on my wrist which gets uncomfortable. Thoughts / suggestions?

Keep an eye out on the preowned market for a used glidelock clasp. Solves all your problems and comes up from time to time. It's what I use on my 16610lv with no issues.

Agree with you the clasp could be better... Just so happens the clasp of a 93250 (sub date) bracelet is better (also a 93160 from a SD)

They easily swap out with your original 93150 clasp and remove the issue with zero visual departure from stock.

I sourced mine on eBay.

Because of the improved design the 93250 clasp does not accidentally pop open.

Both awesome suggestions. Any idea how much one of either would run used? I thought about the glidelock but totally forgot the clasp on the date model for whatever reason snaps the extension into place, really wish they did it that way on the OEM bracelet for the no date.

I've seen $400-500 for the clasp in good condition, they are not so plentiful.

The glidelock would depart from stock look and feel a bit too much for me and will cost significantly more.

Something is wrong, I've worn 93150's for 15 years and never had one pop open

No matter how much I like a watch, I never spend money to fix this kind of problem. Must be perfect for me all original otherwise I flip. IMHO you will be very happy with the 114060.

I have to admit, I'm much the same. Great advice from Gus though if you opt to go that route

I agree too and this one is pretty much perfect for me but this one issue. I like the ceramic version but I'm not sold on the widened lugs (had a date version and wasn't huge on it) or the engraved rehaut. It's frustrating because it's just the extension piece that isn't performing to standard everything else is perfect

Find a watchmaker nearby and ask for help, then. Maybe it's a simple fix.

I wore my first sub for 20 years with the clasp popping every now and then, I searched for a way to eliminate the extension link which is the root of the problem but could find no elegant way to do it. I even attempted to eliminate the clasp entirely and simply bolt the bracelet onto my wrist as I never took the watch off (really) but again could not find an elegant way to accomplish.

Swapping the clasp is not as great as if Rolex sorted it at the factory and if you ever bring the watch for service to RSC, they will probably put you in front of a firing squad.

That said, once you replace it with the 93250 clasp you won't think about it again.


Btw, 1 important caveat the alternative clasps (both 93250 & 93160) have a half link in place of the full link of the 93150 (the permanent link attached to the clasp) so your fit may improve or worsen depending on your specific needs.

I took a washcloth and wrapped it around the clasp and squeezed the outer edges a little with a pair of pliers and have not had an issue in over a year. The clasp sits nice and snug without any flopping.

I'd try this to save $500 and because finding the other clasp my be pretty tough and take a while.

Gus, you are a source of vast watch knowledge! I would have never figured out the clasp switch.
