New Sub issue -advice requested

Just over a week ago, I traded in my 12 year-old Datejust for a new, 2-tone black Submariner. Yesterday, I noticed a small, black, hair-like bit of debris on date dial. When I moved the watch through the dates the debris appeared to stay where it was. Cosmetically, it doesn’t bother me that much. However, today I noticed it had moved and am now concerned it might find its way into the watch mechanism and cause problems sooner or later.

The jeweller I bought it from is a long established Rolex dealer so there’s no doubt as to the watch’s provenance. I contacted them and they told me that I could either get it sent back to Rolex or just leave it as in their opinion it would unlikely cause any problems and I had my 5-year guarantee to fall back on. I’m not totally convinced – should I get it sent back to Rolex immediately? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Wise decision.

It is though to part away with a watch that you just purchased but in the long run, the wait will be worth the peace of mind.

Get it resolved now because it will just annoy you as time goes on and you'll end us sending it in anyways.

Just send it in and don't worry about it. It's for just these kinds of situations that we have other Rolexes to wear.

If you are anywhere near London I would take it into St. James Square. They should be able to sort it out whilst you wait. Good luck.

regardless of if it will cause any future damage, you'll "see it" every time you look at the watch. send it back & make it better

It is faulty...and it is new; You are entitled to a replacement watch, which would take a few days, while having that fixed could take rather longer.
So, if you don't want to wait, have a new watch. I did that recently with a faulty new Rolex; the AD was very helpful. You paid for a faultless new watch, that is what you should have, not something that needs 'fixing' from new.
Unless you have already 'bonded' with the watch ! It's certainly poor quality control.

It will get sorted. Try your AD first but your local RSC would without a doubt make that right.

this sucks, will the dealer take it back and give you a another watch?

You're gonna loose this new watch for weeks or a month or two, who knows how long service is going to take.

Bummer man, I'd want to exchange it, for that price tag and this poor qc, unacceptable.

If that is brand new, I would expect a replacement not a repair!
