Daily watch

what do you guys wear for your daily watch?

I have a few watches for daily wear, but thinking of buying a new one.

budget is of a mina concern as I go through daily watches often as I type a lot and work around metal shelving and swing my arms when I walk. lol

thoughts?

This is why the Rolex Submariner is such a popular choice. It's great for any occasion be it in an office, boardroom, beach, or workshop. And it can take a major beating. I'm talking about some serious smacks where you say to yourself "I just ruined my Rolex!" and then you look down and there's no damage and you go "Wait, what?" Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally hit a door jamb or metal shelf, I'm going to guess that in the course of 14 years of ownership I've smacked it way too firmly into shopping carts, car trunks, baseball bats, ski poles, swimming pool ladders, baby car seats, and airplane seat belt buckles about 40 times, that's 40 major collisions, and there's barely a scratch on it, the aluminum bezel is perfect, the sapphire crystal perfect. The only maintenance I've done in those 14 years is gently polishing the bracelet just one time, and I did it myself at a cost of $5 in 20 minutes in my kitchen.

Trust me on this one and spend a few grand on a Submariner, it'll be the last daily you'll ever need, at least on the durability scale. Go pre-owned, shouldn't set you back more than $4,800 for one that looks like mine above.

Best one I've found so far is the GMT IIc, but I'm not sure that's the best recommendation here.

Can't go wrong with a steel sports Rolex. Find a pricepoint and complications you like and go from there.

For what you described yourself doing, all Rolexes will be equally durable against knocks, bumps and arm-swinging so just pick the one you like best and is most comfortable.

If you want to go further with the notion of durability to include simplicity because there's less chance of something extraneous like bezels or movement complications being knocked-off/breaking if it gets knocked then models without them such as an Explorer, OP, Air King, or Milgauss would be good choices.

Usually my BLNR or Daytona (SS with Panda dial and red hands), but since I got my AP 15400 blue dial last week it's been my daily driver

I have started taking my watch off when I start an extensive typing session at work. Especially if it is on a metal bracelet

Most will say Sub or GMT, but don't overlook these daily workhorses.

I would echo all of this about my Sub Date as a daily which it was for years prior to picking up my DJ.

Now having both (which I know does not answer your question) I alternate and find that there are some "shirt and tie" situations where the DJ is a more appropriate choice vs. the many environments outside of the office where the Sub is the clear choice.

The factor in daily wear, IMO, is SS vs. TT/gold (PM) as SS is almost never out of place but when worn with anything less dressy than a collar shirt (t-shirt, no shirt, etc..) gold/pm can look a bit ostentatious.

Those are 2 good examples!

For the OP - if you're swinging your arms and working around metal shelving a lot - something in black resin case is maybe best.

no daily for me. When I only had 2 or3, I would rotate weekly. Now with more, I am a hot mess. Even worse, I keep looking for more, only compounding my morning dilemma.

i've been loving and wearing my SS Daytona daily, but really nothing beats a SS sub, GMT, or Explorer II in my opinion.
