what do you think of this vintage?
hi I recently won this auction for a low price, but upon further inspection I believe the watch to be fake http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230270900395what do you think? Also how do I get out of paying for it at this point? Thanks!

honestly i have never seen a rolex like this. Wait until others give you more information and they will know if its fake or not. Then refuse to pay on that grounds and you will have the TRFers evidence

Ive seen some Red Cross Rolex's but nothing exactly like this.
Maybe a few others can shed some light, perhaps on the movement? |

Ryder........ a Budweiser dialed Rolex in your avatar
Now thats one I'd go for....... infact, with the amount I've spent on the stuff over the years - they should present me with one !! |

I have seen one other watch like this.but it didnt look quite like that one,the dial was a little different-I will have to look for the pictures.
also the rolex engraving on the movement seems a little sloppy for rolex.just my opinion. steve |

It is a tough one.
The crown is not original for sure. The movement looks OK and possibly the dial has had the text and cross redone? I don't think the text Rolex, the coronet and precision are original nore the cross as that looks off center, bot the rest of the dial looks old and possibly original to the movement. Rolex made a lot of watches in the 40's era and before that were marked Oyster watch co and just oyster etc.. that didn't mention Rolex on the dial especially for the Canadian market. Quite a few of these have had the Rolex text added later to make them more marketable and desirable. The case back is not like anything I've seen fitted to a Rolex Oyster of any vintage before either. Sorry I can't be of more help, but there are so many older models that are just that little bit different it is sometimes very hard to tell. |

Looks genuine....
...to me. The crown may also be original to the watch, so the nurses did not have to fumble around with a TINY flat crown.

Bad caseback. It looks like an old Seiko.
I would get out of the deal. |

I don't see why it would not be genuine. The E-Bayer has been a member since 2002, has sold 1045 items with 100% feedback, and the watch seems like it could very well be valid. I think it is OK.
